My name is Ioannis Karaolis. I studied Greek Philology (with a focus on Modern Greek and Byzantine Literature) at the University of Crete and later I followed postgraduate studies in Education at the London Metropolitan University.
In the past, I worked in the creative company Hypermedia in Nicosia. There I participated in a project, which had as its main purpose to create DVD for Byzantine Museums. My main duties were research for information, data entry, adjustment of subtitles, decoding of magnetic tapes and translation of articles. At the same time I prepared exercises for pupils. Occasionally I marked the students’ written work. Currently, I am working in a Legal Firm and simultaneously, I am teaching Greek for Foreigners in various organisations. I am also a private tutor. I teach Philological lessons to secondary education students and I help primary pupils with their homework.
I am fluent in Greek and English and also speak some Spanish and Russian. well organised and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

People think that Greek is a difficult language. However a good teacher can help students to learn it fluently.
My method on teaching is student-centered and my aim is to help students develop oral, listening, reading and writing skills.
During the lesson I use visual and auditory material and also use mimic and body material in order to help students understand easier various phrases and vocabulary. Moreover I play games with my students in order firstly to learn the Greek phonetics and secondly to practice their speaking and writing.
Finally I never begin teaching the alphabet. Students learn it slowly slowly through out the lessons!
