my name is Marijana Mikolčić. I come from Rijeka, Croatia.

My professional experience covers years-long private tutoring, and E-teaching of Croatian as a second or foreign language.

I've worked with learners of different age, diverse professional backgrounds and various motivations for learning Croatian. My method of teaching Croatian as a second language is a combination of individual creativity, passion for teaching and personal experience.

My experience of language teacher (but also that of language learner), has taught me that learning a new language is an exciting but a challenging process, which can sometimes feel daunting, with goals that sometimes may seem hard to achieve.

And that's why it's important to enjoy the new language, right from the start.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MA in Croatian and English language and literature,

Graduated from Faculty of Philosophy in Rijeka, Croatia;

EXPERIENCE:

*Experienced e-learning teacher of Croatian and English as a foreign language; levels: beginners to advanced.

*Translator (films, magazines, theatre, oil industry, megayacht and tourism sector)

*Theatre production assistant (DudaPaiva Company)

I believe creativity, flexibility, challenge and interaction are important in learning a new language.

I use teaching material interesting to student, providing both linguistic and cultural information on Croatia.

The combination of excerpts from local Croatian newspaper, magazines, books and interesting websites is used for creating exercises of vocabulary, syntax and grammar points.

Besides from the written exercises, I create and prepare a lot of audio (listening) exercises (including audio transcripts of television and radio shows, news, documentaries, etc.)

The lesson material is sent to you by email, as a PDF or WORD file, in time for you to review the material before the lesson starts.

Every lesson is rounded-up by self-study (homework) material, to which you receive a detailed feedback.

Plans, goals and achievements are frequently discussed with the learner, in order to keep on improving the individualized lesson plan.

28 godina, iz Rijeke. Osim poduka i prevođenja, aktivno se bavim kazališnom produkcijom, dramaturgijom i pisanjem/objavljivanjem članaka o modernom plesu i lutkarstvu.

Diplomirala hrvatski jezik i književnost i engleski jezik i književnost na Filozoskom fakultetu u Rijeci.

Sedmogodišnje iskustvo u podukama engleskoga jezika, najčešće na gimnazijskoj razini.

Prevođenje filmova i tekstova s engleskog na hrvatski jezik.

Lektoriranje web stranica na engleskom jeziku.

Nastavni plan osmišljen je u skladu s učenikovom razinom poznavanja jezika, sukladno s njezinim / njegovim interesima o poznavanju određene teme, jezičnog i kulturnog područja.
