My name is Angela Maurici, I live in Sydney, Australia and am currently studying a major in Italian and Linguistics.
I have made many trips to Italy where my grandparents are originally from and I have studied Italian in Rome.
I love teaching English and learning about different cultures. I also enjoy travelling, music and reading.
After completing my high school certificate I started working full-time at a private hospital as an administrator, I completed my medical terminology training and soon advanced to a managerial position. This gave me time and opportunities every year for travel.
In 2010 I spent time in a small village in Italy for 3 weeks where I met local children and volunteered to tutor them English every afternoon. I soon realised this was something I thoroughly enjoyed.
Later in 2010 I returned to Italy to study Italian further, once again I found myself tutoring English to other students from all over the world, it was then I decided to return home and study English further.
In 2011 I completed my CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) with supervised teaching experience to beginner and intermediate teenagers and adults with up to 25 students per class.
My main approach to teaching is to create a positive and comfortable learning environment for all students. Each students learning pace is different and constant assessing of students progress allows for efficient progress and improvement.
My lessons are very student centred with a focus on comprehension, grammar, and the use of the English language in every day life.
I understand that students may not be confident speaking English therefore pronunciation practice will also play a key role in their learning, which will be enhanced with creative tasks and fun activities.
