Thai is my mother tongue and I speak great English, so I'm going to be a great teacher for you. I live in Chiang Mai, in Thailand, but I grew up in Bangkok, so I speak the most standard form of Thai which you will need.
Lessons with me will be easy, fun and very successful, and include a website tool so that you can practise all your words as much as you want. The end result is that I can guarantee you will gradually be able to understand and speak Thai.
Qualifications & Experience
I have trained using the SIL method of language learning, a method designed to make it easy for anyone to learn to understand and speak Thai in the most natural of ways.
I have been teaching Thai one-to-one with many private students of different levels; some are absolute beginners, some are near-beginners with only a few words, some are students who have tried elsewhere and given up, some are quite experienced and want to just focus on some particular aspect like improving their reading.
Teaching Approach
The basic principle I use is building an ever larger and larger set of what is called 'comprehensible input', meaning simply, that you can gradually understand more and more.
Each lesson typically introduces around 10 new words. These words are introduced and practised in the following three ways: firstly as individual vocabulary items, then in very simple phrases or sentences, and finally in complex sentences.
The method makes it easy to learn (so anyone can learn with it) and fun.
As a student of mine, you will also get free access to the website Lingopolo where you will be able to practise as much as you want all of your vocabulary. This is a unique practise tool that means that after every lesson with me you can practise at your own pace until you are 100% comfortable with the lesson content.
The combination of private lessons with me, where you really learn to speak, together with a website where you can practise and practise as much as you want, means that I can guarantee you will learn to speak Thai.
