I am a Spanish Language teacher, native of Segovia, Spain. I am bilingual (English-Spanish) and have lived in the US since 1994.

I have taught Spanish in the US since 2006 in two schools (Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Highland Falls, NY and Sacred Heart Monroe, NY) and online.

I attended training conferences for teachers provided by the Archdioceses of New York and completed a training course for English as a Second Language teachers from Arizona State University.

I hold an Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in International Business from Schiller International University, Heidelberg, Germany and a Bachelors in Economics and Business Administration from the UNED of Spain with most work done in the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.

Finally, over the last 14 years I have spent countless hours studying the Spanish language and literature and researching engaging materials and content to share with my students.

My lessons are designed to be fun and effective. Students quickly acquire the confidence to use the new language and are encouraged to want to learn more. I use Spanish almost exclusively even with beginners and they are surprised how much they can speak from the first day.

Because the needs and motivations of the students are very varied: academic, travel, business, social, family, general interest, etc. and the preference in the type of activities is also different, the lessons are completely customized. The student give me their objectives and whether they like grammar exercises, practice conversation, guided speaking tasks, etc.. Then I create lesson plans, offer study guides and homework activities for reinforcement.

I suggest that beginning students follow the classic curriculum for foreign language learning to build the ground work for their studies. The objective is to cover the basic grammar with much repetition in useful situations. As students progress they are ready for increasingly complex grammar.

Many advanced students greatly benefit from dialogues based on articles, books and other media in order to learn and retain new vocabulary that is meaningful to them. Besides improving their speaking skills some advanced students have benefited from help with written tasks, couching for interviews, preparing for DELE, GCSE and other exams and reading Spanish literature.

All learners progress faster when they use the Spanish language daily in an enjoyable way.

Para los principiantes el objetivo es cubrir el vocabulario y gramática básicos con mucha repetición. El plan de estudios mueve al estudiante a través de diferentes temas tales como las actividades diarias y el ocio, describir y socializar con personas y describir lugares. A medida que los estudiantes avanzan entran en tipos de diálogos y gramática más complejos . Los estudiantes más avanzados se benefician enormemente de la conversación con una nativa aprendiendo vocabulario y recibiendo correcciones en la pronunciación y la gramática. Las clases se adaptan a sus intereses por lo que el uso del tiempo es muy eficiente.

Los estudiantes se benefician más cuando practican las cuatro habilidades de comprensión oral, lectura, escritura dentro y fuera de la clase.
