Welcome! I’m Mirka.
I am Spanish (Spaniard) American. I love the various countries and cultures throughout the world because they enrich our experience in this planet.
I have lived the greater part of my life between the U.S. and Spain, am a graduate student and enjoy spending my free time traveling, playing tennis, golf, and cycling.
Qualifications & Experience
I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
I have a B.A. in English from the University of Florida and a Master in Spanish from the University of Valencia.
Currently, I am a Ph.D. student in English and Spanish. I have 8 years of tutoring experience teaching English / ESL / ESOL and Spanish to students at all levels.
I truly enjoy teaching languages, so I feel very fortunate to be able to work in this field.
Teaching Approach
I have always believed that learning should be fun. I think it’s important to help the student learn in a way that is both quick and practical.
I like to structure the learning to the needs of the student, in order to achieve the student’s goals in an efficient manner. I like to teach using situations of daily life. I also use a variety of teaching tools to keep the learning fun, such as songs, film scripts, news articles on current events in the country or countries of interest to the student, etc.

He vivido la mayor parte de mi vida entre España y los Estados Unidos, aunque también he vivido en América Latina. Soy estudiante de postgrado. Mi tiempo libre lo disfruto viajando, jugando tenis, golf, y ciclismo.

Yo soy completamente bilingüe en español e inglés. Tengo un Master en Español de la Universidad de València. Actualmente, soy estudiante de Ph.D. en Español e Inglés / ESL / ESOL. Tengo 8 años de experiencia enseñando español e inglés a estudiantes de todos los niveles. La enseñanza de idiomas es algo que verdaderamente me gusta y me siento afortunada de poder trabajar en este campo profesional.
Teaching Approach
Siempre he pensado que el aprendizaje debe ser divertido. Pienso que es muy importante ayudar al estudiante a aprender el idioma de una forma rápida y práctica. Me gusta estructurar la enseñanza a las necesidades del estudiante para lograr efectivamente el propósito del estudiante. Me gusta utilizar situaciones de la vida cotidiana para la enseñanza. Yo también utilizo diferentes medios de enseñanza para mantener un aprendizaje ameno, como por ejemplo canciones, guiones cinematográficos, artículos de noticias sobre el país o países de interés al estudiante, etc.
