My name is Stephan and I am from Great Britain. I specialise in teaching students who have studied English from a basic to intermediate level and want to improve their ability to speak and write in English or prepare for such exams like IELTS or TOEFL.

I currently live in Egypt, where I work in an International school and teach English. Before working as a teacher I worked within the luxury tourism industry in a senior management position for many years. During my many years of working in tourism I have gained a wide variety of experiences and knowledge including training. Training has allowed me to understand and enjoy being an English teacher.

I am an easy going and get along with all types of people. After living in an Arab country for almost 12 years, I do believe this has allowed me to understand and appreciate the culture of the Arab states.

I enjoy the English language and teaching very much and I'm very glad to say that my students have given me high marks and a warm reception. I'm very excited about teaching online and have lots of ideas and plans to help you improve your English.

I have been teaching English for several years at various organisations and International schools in Egypt.

In 2013 I received a TEFL certificate after completing a 120 hour course. I have been working a full working week in two international schools in Alexandria. Additionally, I have been working in a variety of language centres and with private students of all ages.

I have taught classes using a variety of syllabuses including Cambridge Primary Programme. I have gained experience in providing courses for students that require a high IELTS score. Throughout the years I have received training in tourism, customer service, Health and Safety, quality control, complaint handling, training and management.

I continue to study the English language and take great interest in different teaching methodologies and their application to the needs of different types of students.

My approach is communicative. One very important key to success with English is regular speaking practice with an English native speaker. This is why having an online tutor is so helpful. We can just have conversations about anything or if you are in a course or studying on your own I can help you by reviewing topics you are working on and just talking about the English language and how it is used.

My basic philosophy is that anyone can learn to speak English naturally and easily without needing to struggle with grammar and vocabulary. Learning English can and should be fun. I focus on what you know and understand and build from there using many different types of learning materials and activities.

Grammar is important but using English well and easily comes from developing a natural feeling for what is correct, not by memorizing rules and vocabulary. I encourage my students to read, listen, write and speak as much as possible.

I focus on what my students need and let that guide how I teach. So if you want to improve your conversation skills or work on business writing and communication or if you need grammar to pass a test or want to prepare for job interviews, I can help you. I have lots of methods and resources to help you learn. I use online materials so we can look at these together during our session.

My style is supportive, encouraging and positive. While learning English requires a lot of effort, I do my best to make it fun, interesting and rewarding.
