Kim sun seng nim takes extra efforts to teach korean. She makes a note of things she covered in a class to make sure I don't forget them. Sends me materials which is really helpful. Thank you sun seng nim :)

About me - English
About me
Hi, I'm Lauren. I'm currently teaching English and Korean in Seoul. I teach private lessons, mostly adults. I recently discovered this online teaching platform and am very excited to meet more students from all over the world. I have a huge interest in languages and having been in the situation where I had to start studying English from the scratch to this, right now, I understand the amount of stress and how frustrating a language learning can be. However, I find it super exciting and satisfied as I started getting to "enjoy communicating" more, rather than being obsessed about perfect grammar and fancy expressions or etc.
A bit of my background - I was born and raised in Korea and have lived in Canada, Australia and Qatar from 1997 to 2007. I have travelled to a number of different countries during those years. I used to run a cute little cafe in Seoul until recent, and now I work as a language instructor, while working on my next goal. I love food and drinks, culture and travel, arts of all kind, especially music, literature and movies. I have so many other interests with life and culture, so my students and I always have so much fun when we study. I am always open to learn new things and I do learn a lot from all my students, and that's what makes this job so interesting!

Teaching Approach
I like to use various materials when I teach, not just textbooks. My main goal is to make my students enjoy learning a new language.
I try to find each student's strength and weakness in learning and use the simplest and the most fun method for them. I also like to keep changing the style of class when it gets boring or too habitual. Having fun is number one and then you need to have a little bit of commitment which usually comes naturally. I like to keep the student's interest to the maximum level and as long as possible. Just one thing you must remember though, is that there is no secret way to mastering something, except the hard work which is the consistency & patience in my opinion. That really is all.
Language learning is not about studying. It is about understanding other people, different cultures and opening up the boundaries of your world. The way you think can change from speaking a new language, and eventually so can your life!
