About me - English

Warm welcome to my profile and thank you very much for your interest!

My name is Michael, already 49, but still feeling young and full of energy. After 18 years living in Japan/Tokyo, where I worked as teacher, lecturer and trainer for German as foreign language, I returned two months ago with my wife to my home town Berlin, where I lived also when the former East Germany Wall broke down, so I was so lucky to experience the reunification of former Western and Eastern Germany. I am so happy that I can continue my passionate work as German language teacher, using the internet, teaching online via Skype and other special teaching software.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking, drinking good wine, sitting with my ipad in cool and cozy Berlin coffee shops. And I love classical music (Bach, Mozart) as well as techno music and good rock music. I like travelling, exploring foreign cultures and learning foreign languages.

I am very happy, when people from other countries have an interest in my home country Germany and in my mother tongue German.

There are many good reasons to explore the German language:

> Do you need German language skills for your work and/or at your company?

> Will you study abroad at a university in a German speaking country?

> Are you preparing for a German language test like B1-Zertifikat, B2 or TestDaf?

> Do you need German language skills because of a job relocation?

> Do you want to understand, what are your German friends and colleagues are talking?

> Are you just interested in German music, arts, and customs?

> Do you want to understand German for your next travel to a German speaking country?

> Do you want to read a German book or learn how to write a letter / an e-mail in German?

> Did you live in a German speaking country and want to refresh your German language skills?

What ever reason you might have, I will give my best to meet your needs !

See you soon in my lesson.

Qualifications & Experience

I have over 18 years German as foreign language teaching experience in Japan, where I lived since 1996. In Japan I taught at Goethe Institute Tokyo, at Japanese universities, at the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as some German language schools and culture centers.

I studied social education (diploma) and have a qualification in teaching methods and techniques for German as foreign language from the Goethe Institute Munich. Also I participated in follow up training to always get trained in the most updated teachings methods.

In Japan I had also my own German language school with hundreds of (Japanese) satisfied and motivated students, which I mostly prepared for studying abroad at universities in German speaking countries like Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Many of those students needed a certificate of German language examinations according to the GER (German European Reference) A1,A2,B1,B2, C1,C2.

I am a certified examiner for Goethe Institute for the levels : A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. So of course we can practice together for your examination, so that you will pass, if you stick to my advices and hints.

I have also teaching experience in Vienna/Austria, where I lived 2003 - 2005. Furthermore I am experienced in teaching online, which is pretty different then teaching face to face - so you can rely on my huge experience.

Teaching Approach

I use most modern teaching methods, in which I am trained on regularly base. We will decide together your teaching plan, curriculum, and aims.

I consider all necessary skills like speaking, reading comprehension, listening, vocabulary building, grammar structures and writing, but I focus the lesson on speaking skills, listening and vocabulary, which are in my opinion the most important to be able to communicate with other people.

You decide the lesson content and I tailor each lesson for you.

During the trial lesson I check and evaluate your current level and what kind of teaching material we should use.
