I’m Becky, and I want to teach you English.

If you want to learn English in a way that is tailored to your needs and learning style, then you’ve come to the right place.

I think one of the things that makes me a good teacher – besides my TESOL qualification – is that I am a language learner and have been for many years. Through school and university, I learnt French, German, Spanish and Portuguese. Since then I’ve dabbled in small amounts of Polish, Korean and Moroccan Arabic. And I'm currently living in Sao Paulo, Brazil, conversing daily in Portuguese and improving my grammar.

So…I know how you feel when you can’t remember a word, when you’re struggling with pronunciation and when you want to give up! I know how embarrassing it is to try to make yourself understood, or to try to understand someone who is speaking WAY to quickly for you to get it!

But I also know that practice makes perfect, and with a bit of encouragement and some creative learning activities, language classes can be fun and grammar WILL stay in that brain of yours!

The advantage of 1-1 classes is that we can set some individual goals and work at a pace that is convenient for you. You can book classes to suit your schedule, and you can have 1, 2, 3 -10 hours of English a week depending on what suits you.

I have 4 years of experience running cross cultural training and overseeing language and linguistics courses as my full time job. More recently (over the last 6 months) I have started teaching English to Brazilians, and am loving a more one-to-one approach to teaching!.

I think everyone learns differently, and my main aim is to find out how YOU learn and what method works for you. I have textbooks in English for learners from beginner to advanced levels, and I also have a host of online resources and creative ideas.

It's also important to understand WHY you want to learn English, and this will have a significant impact on my methodology and lesson content. If you want to learn for an overseas trip so that you can engage with the people you meet, we'll take a different approach to if you want to learn English for business and job interviews. I enjoy planning lessons that are going to be of practical use to my students.

I think repetition is key, you can't be expected to learn something after hearing it just once. And practicing what you've learnt through speaking, writing, listening and reading activities that are fun and engaging will give you a depth and breadth of skills in English.

Uma das características que faz de mim uma boa professora – além da certificação TESOL – é que eu sou uma estudante de idiomas e faço isso faz muito tempo. Desde a escola e durante a faculdade eu estudei e aprendi Frances, Alemão, Espanhol e Português e desde então aprendi pequenas porções de Polonês, Coreano e árabe Marroquino. Atualmente vivo em São Paulo (Brasil) e converso com as pessoas diariamente em Português e ao mesmo tempo aumento meu vocabulário!

Então eu sei exatamente quando você sente que não consegue lembrar uma palavra especifica, quando você tem dificuldade em pronunciar alguma coisa e quer desistir! Eu sei o quão constrangedor é tentar se fazer entender em um idioma estrangeiro ou ainda, entender alguém que fala muito rápido!

De outro lado, eu também sei que a pratica leva a perfeição... e com um pouco de incentivo e algumas atividades criativas, as tediosas aulas de inglês podem ser legais e a gramatica finalmente vai entrar na sua cabeça.

A vantagem de aulas individuais (1x1) é poder alinhar objetivos individuais e trabalhar de maneira conveniente ao aluno. Você pode marcar aulas em horários que entram na sua agenda e ainda pode ter 01, 02, 03 ou 10 horas de inglês por semana, conforme a sua necessidade.

Possuo 4 anos de experiência em treinamento transcultural e também em supervisão de cursos de idiomas e linguística. Recentemente (as ultimas 6 meses) comecei a ensinar Inglês para brasileiros e estou amando uma abordagem individual de ensino!

Entendo que todo mundo aprende de maneira diferente, e meu principal objetivo é descobrir como você aprende e qual método funciona pra você. Tenho livros didáticos de Inglês para os alunos, dos níveis iniciante até o avançado e também tenho uma série de recursos interativos online.

Adicionalmente, também é importante entender por que você quer aprender Inglês, pois isso terá um impacto significativo sobre o conteúdo, metodologia e lições que eu prepararei para você. Se você precisa do idioma para uma viagem ao exterior, para que você possa interagir de maneira independente com as pessoas que você encontrar, teremos uma abordagem diferente de casos onde o objetivo seja aprender Inglês para entrevistas de negócios ou mesmo de emprego. Gosto de planejar aulas que serão práticas para os meus alunos.

Por fim, entendo que a prática contínua é fundamental. O aluno não pode esperar aprender tudo ouvindo uma só vez. Assim, praticar o aprendizado através de conversação, pronúncia, escrita, audição e leitura de atividades divertidas e envolventes lhe dará uma profundidade e amplitude nas suas habilidades em Inglês.
