Hello everybody, I am Maria and I come from Greece. I have always been extremely passionate with learning and teaching languages as well as communicating and exchanging ideas with others.

In a few words, I would describe myself as a well-organized and highly motivated person who takes pleasure in transmitting knowledge to others. My strong communication skills are one of my keys to success and I trust you will find me to be well spoken, energetic, confident and friendly, the type of person on whom you would rely.

In 2000 I graduated from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens and started teaching languages to children and adults of all levels. In 2004 I started working with foreigners / expats on a one to one or small group basis, teaching them Greek, English and Spanish. Most of them were and still are embassies’ and multinational companies’ employees (diplomats, CEOs and executives of all nationalities), scientists and researchers.

After several years of experience and requests from my students who had to leave Greece to move to another country, I started teaching online classes in 2009. (I remember a very special 78 year old American student, who left Greece to go back to Arizona US and used to wake up at 6:00 am “to enjoy” his Greek lesson with me!)

Besides my Bachelor's degree, I constantly attend various seminars regarding teaching techniques and self improvement (Teaching Greek as a foreign language, Grammar current perspectives, Linguistics, Teaching techniques in Greek language etc).

Concerning my methodology, I combine two separate approaches:

-Grammar accuracy as the main condition for learning a foreign language

-Psychological components of human communication

I focus on the grammatical side and simultaneously I concentrate on oral speech according to the students' interests. My wide experience gives me an overall understanding of my students' needs, thus I provide them with individually designed material. My aim is to train them to use immediately the Greek language in a verbal, practical and functional way.
