My name is Marta, I love languages and I'd like to share my knowledge with other people. I was born in Poland, but I've lived in many countries around the world, travelled far and wide. I'm currently living in Colombia and teaching English at one of the language institutes here.
I have a degree in Spanish and I'm CELTA certified. I have 2 years of teaching experience, both one-on-one and in a classroom. I am a highly resourceful, professional and reliable individual with a strong language awareness. I can build a strong rapport with students-I'm patient, cheerful and supportive.
The essential thing in teaching is making students realise they know more that they give themselves credit for. There are certain techniques I use to make it happen. I fully support a student-centred approach where guided discovery is applied instead of simply conveying certain language concepts. I find this approach to be a lot more effective, fun and rewarding for both parties than a traditional one.
Other than that, I put an emphasis on conversational skills in a language, as this is obviously a key factor in being able to communicate successfully. Reading, listening and writing, vocabulary, grammar and functional language are equally important, but my lessons are designed to acquire the skills/knowledge through activities revolving around certain topics. Now, these could be topics of my choosing or whatever it is that interest students.
Lessons therefore will be tailored to: language level, learner's style and interests.
