Hello, my name is CAGDAS AKPINAR and I'm an experienced native Turkish language tutor currently living in Poland. I have been teaching Turkish online since 2016.
Meet me on
About me - English

I am an English/Turkish teacher and a translator. I graduated from English Language Teaching department. During my university years, I have been to U.S.A twice, both times for working opportunities. First, I was in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and I was working in Hotel Terra, and then, I was in Michigan, in Camp Westminster as a counselor. Other than that, I have been to South Korea for one semester as an exchange student. For more than 1 year, I worked in American Culture Language Schools in İzmir, Turkey. Right now, I live in Poland and work in the e-teaching platforms.

Qualifications & Experience

I have been teaching English for 3 years. I worked in American Culture Language Schools for almost two years. I was teaching English to different age groups -from 8 year-olds to adults- and I got most of my teaching experience here. I was following the schedule of the school which was compatible with Common European Framework.

Moreover, I worked as English/Turkish counsellor in U.S.A in Camp Westminster. My responsibilities were helping the campers who had some problems that should be dealt with. I was counselling these campers in the languages of Turkish and English. During this time, I was also helping them with some of the physical activities in which they may need some counselling.

With the experience I have got in teaching, I have been teaching Turkish to foreigners starting from last year. I have had students from different countries, tried to teach them Turkish as communicative as possible. I have always created my own materials, as it is hard to find common materials that can be used in Turkish. I am integrating my teaching education in English to Turkish.

Also, I had the chance to attend some conferences in South Korea, in the time I was getting my education as an English teacher. I had the chance to see how the languages were taught in a completely different culture and it increased my knowledge on teaching.

Teaching Approach

My teaching approach is mostly based on communicative approach, which means that my students mostly talk in my lessons. Instead of a lesson in which the teacher is always speaking, my students have the chance to improve especially their speaking skills using a range of different activities, videos and songs. As mentioned before, I am creating my own teaching materials. As I have thousands of materials to teach English, I am adapting them to fit teaching Turkish.

In my classes, I mostly do not teach any structural grammar knowledge unless it is needed a lot. My perspective on this is that my students should learn Turkish naturally, as they learned their native language.

Because of all these, I use a diversity of visual materials such as videos, songs, and activities. My students will have the chance to learn Turkish by having some fun.
