About me - English
I live in France with my wife, Felicity. We moved here to follow a dream: live and ecological life and build our own house.
Before arriving here we travelled and worked around the world not only English teaching but also mountain guiding and volunteering. At the moment we live in a gorgeous little caravan (which you will see during our lessons), we are planning to start work on a straw bale house this year, which we are very excited about!
We both teach online, not only is this very flexible for us and the student, it is also incredibly effective and rewarding.
I find it extremely satisfying to see students progress and enjoy the process of getting to know each other, tailoring and adjusting the lessons to maximise the effectiveness of our time together.

Bachelors degree - Politics and International relations - Coventry University, UK
Masters degree - East Asian International relations - Durham University, UK
120 Hour TEFL qualification
5 years / 1000 hours of online one-to-one teaching experience with students from over 20 countries
1 year English teaching in Huizhou, China
1 year English teaching in Naju, South Korea
Teaching Approach
I am a professional online English teacher with over 1000 hours one-to-one experience. My students love my lessons and often stay with me for years. You will not find classes like this anywhere else. This job is my passion and I hope I can help you towards fluency!
I create unique structured English classes for my students which are designed to push you outside of your comfort zone by using interesting and unusual topics, combined with innovative exercises to help you towards fluency. The lessons include:
- Materials sent via email before the lesson including some videos which you can watch before we start
- A brief recap of the previous lesson
- A lead-in exercise to introduce the topic
- Gist and specific information exercises
- Extension exercises to widen the discussion and/or focus on specific phrases and idioms
- A debate or role play to use the new vocabulary naturally in context
- A word game to help passive vocabulary become active vocabulary
The classes are abut 80% speaking and 20% reading. This time is crucial for you to absorb the new language before using it actively in various exercises. I strive to create a relaxed, informal and fun atmosphere during my classes, because of you are not enjoying yourself, you will not learn!
In addition to the classes I also have a Blog designed to follow-up the lessons, reinforce any new vocabulary and encourage discussion with other students. As well as posts relating to lesson topics you can also use this Blog to practice phrasal verbs and other grammar points.
