Hello, I’m Kate and I’m a London-based English Language teacher. Having obtained my CELTA Certificate (the University of Cambridge) and a Master’s Degree in Teaching English to non-native speakers, I polished my teaching skills and broadened professional experience by working at the British Council and various language schools in London. I find teaching to be one of the most fascinating and rewarding jobs. I’ve been teaching English for more than 10 years and I’ve been really lucky to have covered a whole variety of teaching within that time: General English, Business English, Exam preparation, job interview preparation.

I believe that regular individual/small group classes combined with self-study is the best way to make a quick and meaningful progress. It’s my philosophy that each lesson should be tailored to the needs and objectives of the individual student. I genuinely enjoy lesson preparation process and work hard to provide the materials and activities that help my students achieve their goals and have fun along the way.

My qualifications include M.Ed and B.A. in EFL teaching and a CELTA Certificate (the University of Cambridge)

In my most recent positions as a teacher at Language in London School and the British Council, where I gained a considerable experience of working with international students, I prepared and delivered engaging and high-quality lessons based on syllabus objectives and students’ needs and aspirations. In order to meet various students’ needs and cater for their individual learning styles, I adapted and supplemented teaching materials a regular basis. Furthermore, having demonstrated excellent organisation skills, I laid a great emphasis on effective classroom management and detailed student evaluations that allowed students to get a lot of constructive feedback on their language acquisition progress as well as assisted me in altering my teaching approaches in order to provide students with better teaching practices.

Taking into account my teaching experience, I could say that I have come to realise that Learner-Centred approach is the most successful one and I am a big supporter of this teaching method as it not only facilitates student learning and overall comprehension of material but also promotes a sense of autonomy in the learning process.

My job is to

• identify your personal aims and address all your current learning needs;

• develop an individual study plan that maximises your chances of meeting your aims in the shortest time possible;

• provide feedback every lesson in order to update your personal achievements profile and introduce any changes into the existent course plan;

• consult and help you choose language topics relevant to your interests, needs, and aspirations;

• give you the strategies to communicate with confidence outside of the classroom;
