Hello. I'm Kara. It is my pleasure to help you improve your English speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. As a native speaker, I like to help my students particularly with pronunciation so that they can be understood as well as they understand.

I am an American living in the Czech Republic for almost a decade. Why live away from home? Living in a major European city allows me to meet people from all over the world, hear their perspectives and be a part of a greater global understanding cross culturally. I am enthusiastic, imaginative, organized and dedicated.

I also enjoy contemporary dance, baking and trail running.

I love teaching. There's something really fun about getting to know new people and my students are no different. My lessons are personalized, organized and paced according to your goals.

In the first lesson, we will identify a specific target and I will design your lesson plan based on this information. For students with the time and interest, I often suggest activities to do outside of our lessons like watching videos or reading articles.

As a native speaker, I can help you improve your pronunciation and accent in English, and this aspect in particular is something I focus on in every lesson. It is just as important to be able to understand other people as to be understood by others, and to this end, my lessons regularly include listening exercises to help train your ear to understand native speakers without visual cues.

My lessons train grammar either directly via a specific plan or indirectly, clarifying the reasons for your mistakes. My students are often interested in colloquial (everyday) English including phrasal verbs and I am happy to include these in lessons as well.

I can also help you prepare to pass the FCE, CAE and similar internationally-recognized English exams, edit your resume/CV, give professional presentations, speak confidently on the telephone and proofread documents written in English.
