WHO AM I?

My name is Andrea Polverini and I would like to give you some information about myself on a personal and professional level.

I have been working as an English teacher since 1998 and as an Italian teacher since 2004. Since 2009, I have been working as a translator.

I graduated in English philology (University of Pisa) and later specialised in audiovisual translation (University of Surrey).

From an educational point of view, I trained through courses for English teachers such as the CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages - Cambridge Assessment English) and the DELTA (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages - Cambridge Assessment - Module 1).

I have lived and worked in countries such as the United Kingdom, Venezuela, Ireland and currently reside in Spain.

I am passionate about foreign languages. In addition to English and Spanish, which I currently work with, I continue to study and practice other languages such as French, Catalan and German.

My more than 15 years of experience teaching Italian and English to students of different nationalities, ages and levels have given me the opportunity to reflect on my role as a foreign language teacher and to evolve into a coach. More than a transmitter of knowledge, I want to be a travelling companion for my clients, with whom I can discover the most suitable path for each of them towards their personalised language goals.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ONE OF MY ITALIAN SESSIONS?

We are all different human beings, with different personalities, feelings and a unique brain.

In a relaxed atmosphere conducive to the learning process, I will guide you by respecting your personality and help you take full responsibility for the learning process.

It will be up to you to help me set your goals as accurately as possible from the test session. Your progress, as far as possible, will be measured. Your goals and progress will be reviewed periodically.

Motivation will be the key to your commitment to your learning. I can only help you find your motivation, but I cannot give it to you. For your learning to be effective, you must already have it within you.

You will bear the weight of the work, because the one who does, learns. I will only serve as a guide.

The sessions will take place without any pressure and in an atmosphere of complete relaxation. This will help you get rid of any internal blocks that would be an obstacle to the development of your language skills. Your memory will be stimulated through positive emotions and regular review. During the sessions, you will always receive feedback from me, but in a way that interferes as little as possible with the conversation.

Your curiosity will be encouraged through the use of material that is relevant to you, with open-ended questions and allowing you time to respond, without trying to finish your sentences. Suggestions rather than instructions will be given and useful silences necessary for reflection will be allowed.

As far as possible and unless specifically requested by you, the use of textbooks designed for language learning will be avoided. Any audio-visual or written stimuli will be chosen with you in mind.

The relationship between us will not be the typical teacher-student relationship. We will be travelling companions and we will work together to achieve the set objectives.

Your emotions and moods will be as important as your brain in the learning process.

Finally, you will never be judged for anything you say during the session and you will always receive my support for your efforts. My only aim is to help you develop your potential.

CHI SONO?

Mi chiamo Andrea Polverini e vorrei darti alcune informazioni su di me a livello personale e professionale.

Lavoro dal 1998 come insegnante di inglese e dal 2004 come insegnante di italiano, attività alle quali, dal 2009, ho aggiunto quella di traduttore.

Sono laureato in filologia inglese (Università degli Studi di Pisa) e successivamente mi sono specializzato in traduzione audiovisiva (Università del Surrey).

Dal punto di vista didattico mi sono formato attraverso corsi per insegnanti d'inglese come il CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages - Cambridge Assessment English) e il DELTA (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages - Cambridge Assessment - Module 1).

Ho vissuto e lavorato in paesi come il Regno Unito, Venezuela, Irlanda e attualmente risiedo in Spagna.

Sono appassionato di lingue straniere. Oltre all'inglese e allo spagnolo, con cui lavoro attualmente, continuo a studiare e praticare altre lingue come il francese, il catalano e il tedesco.

I miei più di 15 anni di esperienza nell'insegnamento dell'italiano e dell'inglese a studenti di diverse nazionalità, età e livelli mi hanno dato l'opportunità di riflettere sul mio ruolo di insegnante di lingue straniere e di evolvermi in un coach. Più che un trasmettitore di conoscenze, voglio essere un compagno di viaggio per i miei clienti, con cui scoprire il percorso più adatto a ciascuno di loro verso i loro obiettivi linguistici personalizzati.

COSA ASPETTARSI DA UNA DELLE MIE SESSIONI D'ITALIANO?

Siamo tutti esseri umani diversi, con diverse personalità, sentimenti e un cervello unico.

In un'atmosfera rilassata e distesa che favorisce il processo di apprendimento, ti guiderò rispettando la tua personalità e ti aiuterò ad assumerti la piena responsabilità del processo di apprendimento.

Starà a te aiutarmi a fissare i tuoi obiettivi nel modo più accurato possibile a partire dalla sessione di test. I tuoi progressi, per quanto possibile, saranno misurati. I tuoi obiettivi e i tuoi progressi saranno rivisti periodicamente.

La motivazione sarà la chiave dell'impegno presso nei confronti del tuo apprendimento. Posso solo aiutarti a trovare la vostra motivazione, ma non posso dartela. Affinché l'apprendimento sia efficace, bisogna averla già dentro di sé.

Sarai tu a sopportare il peso del lavoro, perché chi fa, impara. Io servirò solo come guida.

Le sessioni si svolgeranno senza alcuna pressione e in un'atmosfera di completo rilassamento. Questo ti aiuterà a sbarazzarti di qualsiasi blocco interno che sarebbe un ostacolo allo sviluppo delle tue abilità linguistiche. La tua memoria sarà stimolata attraverso emozioni positive e revisioni regolari. Durante le sessioni, riceverai sempre un feedback da parte mia, ma in maniera tale che interferisca il meno possibile con la conversazione.

La tua curiosità sarà incoraggiata attraverso l'uso di materiale che è rilevante per te, con domande aperte e lasciandoti il tempo di rispondere, senza cercare di finire le tue frasi. Saranno dati suggerimenti piuttosto che istruzioni e saranno concessi utili silenzi necessari alla riflessione.

Per quanto possibile e a meno che non sia specificamente richiesto da te, l'uso di libri di testo progettati per l'apprendimento delle lingue sarà evitato. Qualsiasi stimolo audiovisivo o scritto sarà scelto pensando a te.

La relazione tra noi non sarà quella tipica tra insegnante e studente/essa. Saremo compagni di viaggio e lavoreremo insieme per raggiungere gli obiettivi fissati.

Le tue emozioni e i tuoi stati d'animo avranno la stessa importanza del tuo cervello nel processo di apprendimento.

Infine, non sarai mai giudicato per qualsiasi cosa tu abbia detto durante la sessione e riceverai sempre il mio sostegno per i tuoi sforzi. Il mio unico obiettivo è quello di aiutarti a sviluppare il potenziale che è in te.

Me llamo Andrea Polverini y me gustaría darte alguna información sobre mí a nivel personal y profesional.

Trabajo desde el 1998 como profesor de inglés y desde 2004 como profesor de italiano, actividades a las cuales, a partir del 2009, he añadido la de traductor.

Soy licenciado en filología inglesa (Università degli Studi di Pisa) y sucesivamente me he especializado en traducción audiovisual (University of Surrey).

Desde un punto de vista didáctico me he formado a través de cursos para profesores de inglés como CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages - Cambridge Assessment English) y DELTA (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages - Cambridge Assessment - Module 1).

He vivido y trabajado en países como Reino Unido, Venezuela, Irlanda y en la actualidad resido en España.

Soy un apasionado de las lenguas extranjeras. A parte de inglés y español, con las cuales actualmente trabajo, sigo estudiando y practicando otros idiomas como: francés, catalán y alemán.

Mis más de 15 años de experiencia en la enseñanza de italiano y de inglés a alumnos de diferentes nacionalidades, edades y niveles, me han dado la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre mi rol de profesor de lenguas extranjeras y evolucionar hacia la figura de coach. Más que un transmisor de conocimientos quiero representar para mis clientes un compañero de viaje, junto al cual descubrirán el camino más adecuado para cada uno de ellos hacia sus objetivos lingüísticos personalizados.

¿QUÉ ESPERAR DE UNA DE MIS SESIONES DE IDIOMAS?

Somos todos seres humanos diferentes, con diferentes personalidades, sentimientos y un cerebro único.

En una atmósfera distendida y relajada que favorece el proceso de aprendizaje, te guiaré respetando tu personalidad y te ayudaré a tomar completa responsabilidad de dicho proceso.

Serás tú en ayudarme a establecer tus objetivos con la mayor precisión posible desde la sesión de prueba. Tus progresos, dentro de lo posible, serán medidos. Tus objetivos y progresos se examinarán periódicamente.

La motivación será clave en tu compromiso con tu propio aprendizaje. Yo solo puedo ayudarte a encontrar tu motivación pero no puedo dártela. Para que el aprendizaje sea efectivo, tienes que tenerla dentro de ti.

Serás tú a llevar la carga del trabajo ya que quien hace, aprende. Yo solo serviré de guía.

Las sesiones se desarrollarán sin ningún tipo de presión y en una atmósfera de completa relajación. Ésto te ayudará a deshacerte de cualquier bloqueo interno que representaría un obstáculo al desarrollo de tus habilidades lingüísticas. Tu memoria se estimulará a través de emociones positivas y revisiones periódicas. Durante las sesiones, recibirás siempre mi feedback, pero de modo que interfiera lo menos posible con la conversación.

Se fomentará tu curiosidad a través del uso de material que sea relevante para ti, con preguntas abiertas y dejándote tiempo para contestar, sin intentar terminar tus frases. Se sugerirá en vez de dar instrucciones y se permitirán los silencios útiles y necesarios para reflexionar.

En la medida de lo posible y si no es expresamente pedido por ti, se evitará el uso de libros de texto pensados para el aprendizaje de idiomas. Cualquier estímulo audiovisual o escrito será escogido pensando en ti.

La relación entre nosotros, no será la típica que se establece entre profesor y alumno/a. Seremos compañeros de viaje y trabajaremos juntos para alcanzar los objetivos fijados.

Se dará a tus emociones y a tu estado de ánimo la misma importancia que a tu cerebro en el proceso de aprendizaje.

Para terminar, nunca se te juzgará por algo que hayas dicho durante la sesión y siempre recibirás mi apoyo a tus esfuerzos. Mi único objetivo es de ayudarte a desarrollar el potencial que llevas dentro.
