My name is Chris and I am a professionally certified English teacher from the United States. I live in the Czech Republic because it feels like home to me. The culture, atmosphere, people, sights, and sounds of Prague bring me comfort and joy. I started teaching so that I could meet new people from around the world and help them reach their goals.

I received my Trinity CertTESOL from Oxford House here in Prague back in 2013. I have followed up that certification with another from Cambridge English Teacher for How to Teach IELTS. While teaching in Moscow I underwent training to become a certified IELTS Examiner. I’m also currently completing a 16 week professional development course focusing on the structure of teaching English exams such as; TOEFL iBT, IELTS, CPE, CAE, etc.

I try to keep up to date with many different teaching methods. Students are different and a teacher should have a flexible approach so that the student’s needs can be met. I like to take the time to get to know my students and find out about their interests so that I can tailor their lesson specifically to them. Whether that’s using a communicative approach, a lexical approach, using CLIL, YouTube, PodCasts, Blogs, anything that excites the student as is available in English is perfect for me.
