I am Elfin, a perfectly bilingual teacher who has been teaching English online since 2014.

I hold a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) and I have taught over 800 students from all over the world.

My lessons are about using visual elements, like pictures and videos, as a powerful tool to jog your memory, retain and learn new vocab and also push you painlessly beyond your limits.

In my sessions, we will focus on everyday language, with an emphasis on listening activities.

I have a background in translation studies but I decided to focus on teaching in the last ten years.

I took the CELTA where I learned how useful observed teaching can be. It's a great way to get professional feedback .

Later, I took the COLT, a certificate for teaching online where I studied techniques and problem solving in online teaching.

After working offline with companies for a few years I moved to online teaching and it changed my life.

Teaching online allows me to offer my students the best lessons they could possibly have.

Recently, my focus has been on learning how to teach English pronunciation and I took several courses on the subject.

I assess the student's level and then develop a program that keeps in mind the student's strong points and weaknesses.

Every lesson gives equal space to listening, writing, reading and speaking but also grammar.

Grammar has to be a tool, though, not a cage.

I don't only teach the language, I also teach learning strategies to get the best results and how to overcome personal fears and insecurities, that are hindering our language speaking. I will share with you my very own language learning tips, result of my own current studies in Spanish and German.

Je suis passionnée par les langues et les cultures différentes.

J'aime faire du vélo, enseigner, marcher en pleine nature, lire et aller au cinéma.

Je suis parfaitement bilingue en anglais et italien. Maintenant, je suis en train d'étudier l'espagnol, une langue très belle.

En l'étudiant, je me rends compte des obstacles et des difficultés qu'ont mes étudiants.

Je trouve ça très intéressant, stimulant et ça m'aide à m'améliorer.

J'ai toujours enseigné mais en 2006, j'ai obtenu le Celta, une certification de formation.

C' est pour l'anglais, bien sûr, mais les méthodes d'enseignement, les techniques que j'ai apprises, sont efficaces pour l'enseignement de toutes les langues. Puis en 2011, j'ai obtenu le Colt, une certification sur les techniques de l'enseignement en ligne.

J'ai plus de 8 ans d'expérience et je donne des cours d'italien et anglais général, langue phonétique et littérature.

Je donne des cours particuliers aux adultes, adolescents et enfants. J'utilise une méthode interactive et je m'adapte aux besoins de l'étudiant.

Mes cours sont pour débutants et élémentaire, surtout de langue maternelle anglaise, qui veulent améliorer et arriver à un niveau intermédiaire.

A chaque leçon, l'étudiant pratique la lecture, l'écriture, la prononciation et la grammaire. En ce qui concerne la grammaire, je pense que ça devrait être un outil et pas une prison.

J'essaie toujours de me mettre à la place de mes étudiants pour mieux comprendre ce dont ils ont besoin. J'essaie toujours de m'améliorer et de me tenir à jour.

Vivo in Italia da lunghissimo tempo, di padre americano e madre italiana e sono quindi bilingue primaria a tutti gli effetti, ovvero parlante madrelingua inglese/italiano.

Parlo, leggo e scrivo correttamente e fluentemente anche in lingua francese.

Ho da sempre una fortissima passione per le lingue straniere, per i viaggi e per la conoscenza di culture diverse. Da poco ho iniziato lo studio anche della lingua e cultura spagnola, e giorno per giorno ne sto scoprendo sempre di più il fascino. Studiando poi, mi trovo ad affrontare gli stessi ostacoli e difficoltà dei miei studenti e questo è un aspetto davvero interessante e stimolante.

Nel tempo libero adoro andare in bicicletta, disegnare, nuotare, ascoltare musica e anche suonarla.

Insegno inglese offline da oltre un decennio. Nel 2006 ho conseguito il CELTA presso l'International House di Roma. Esperienza davvero molto intensa, ricordo che tra le numerose attività dovevamo anche fare lezioni in classi numerose osservate da nostre colleghe e superiori, e credo che sia stata un'esperienza molto stimolante ed estremamente istruttiva.

Successivamente ho conseguito anche il COLT, una certificazione specifica per l'insegnamento online, dove ho studiato tecniche, tematiche e problematiche che possono insorgere nell'insegnamento a distanza, che presenta spesso difficoltà molto diverse da dover affrontare.

Negli anni ho ricevuto tante richieste specifiche ed è stato così che ho imparato a preparare studenti per i più disparati esami e certificazioni.

Insegno anche ai bambini da due anni in su, anche online (seguiti dai genitori ovviamente).

Inizialmente valuto il livello dello studente e poi sviluppo un programma che tenga conto dei suoi punti forti e di quelli deboli. Io non insegno solo una lingua, ma studio una strategia di apprendimento personalizzata per ottenere i migliori risultati con ogni singolo allievo.

Uso la grammatica, ma come uno strumento, non deve mai essere una gabbia che blocchi la comunicazione, soprattutto nell'italiano.

In base agli obiettivi, cerco di far diventare l'italiano una piccola abitudine quotidiana, da incorporare nella vita di tutti i giorni.

La disciplina e la diligenza sono fondamentali. Un poco di pratica ogni giorno porta a stupefacenti risultati a lungo termine.
