Über mich - Englisch
I was born in Athens. I was brought up like all the other Greek children, being proud of the history, the culture and the language of the country.
Even though I had never pictured myself as a teacher before, I somehow got involved with teaching in 2005 and ever since I haven`t been able to imagine myself doing something else.
My future plans include starting my teaching career online - I already invested in creating a wonderful and cozy working place, as I firmly believe that this is where the future of teaching lies and obtaining a Master`s Degree in Comparative and Historical Linguistics.

Lehransatz
As a Berlitz Certified Instructor, I taught English or Greek, without the assistance of L2 from the very first lesson. As scary and stressful as it may sound, it is a well planned method building gradually from very basic and " international words" to simple structures and so on. Briefly, it attempts to mime the natural way kids acquire language.
With time, I came to believe that this method is ideal for total beginners, or people wanting to learn the basics of the language for travel purposes etc. I now think that there is more to that when students advance and their needs become more complex.
So, the way I now teach is highly communicational and interactive using screen sharing, interactive board, my aim being to make the lesson as lively as a traditional classroom lesson is. I would never teach just by lecturing or chit chatting.
My lessons are theme - based with related vocabulary and grammar, including a bit of reading, listening, writing and of course speaking. Every new item is presented naturally, without lecturing about it. I try as much as I can to keep balance between fun and learning.
One of the things I highly insist on is revision and some kind of homework. I always start and finish my class with revising vocabulary and grammar from all the previous classes (not all of it of course, the problematic one), which might seem boring and repetitive, but absolutely necessary in my opinion. The homework varies, it might be researching on something, watching a clip, writing a text message or something like that. Nothing really freaky or long.
The last thing I want to mention is the regular testing which may be oral or multiple choice. I usually do it with the students twice, in the middle of the course and at the end of it.
Above all, remember, that learning a language can be very awarding, fun and totally worth a go!
