I am a native English speaker who was born and raised in a seaside town on the south coast of England.

Prior to my teaching career I spent many years working in hospitality and catering in a variety of roles. I graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a Bachelors in International Relations and Politics in 2000. Having suffered with itchy feet all my life I then left the UK to travel around the world. I began in France and Italy working for ex-pats and voluntary work. Although not initially part of my plan I started my English teaching career in Poland in 2007 teaching teenagers. After realising this was a good career move for me, I obtained my CELTA teaching certificate in Berlin, where I now live in the summer months.

After receiving my CELTA teaching certificate in Berlin, I taught written and spoken English at a Chinese university for 3 years. I then taught at a private school in Moscow, teaching all levels of English - along with some Business English and exam preparation courses.

After one year teaching Business English at Goodyear Tyres in Poland I returned to China for two years where I taught IELTS preparation classes to Undergraduate students.

At present I am the Director of Studies for a small chain of language schools in Southern Italy. Here, as well as providing academic support for my teachers, I teach CEFR levels A1 to B2 along with IELTS preparation classes.

I can offer general English classes at all levels from Beginner to Advanced levels. I also have significant experience preparing students for Cambridge Exams such as IELTS and FCE. In addition, I can provide conversational practice lessons as well as teaching aspects of more specialised areas such as Business and Hospitality English.

My lessons are based on the communicative approach which means that you can take what you have learnt from the lesson and use it in the real world. If you have any specific requirements such as attending a job interview or giving a presentation or would just like to practice your conversation skills I can provide tailor made lessons for you.

Most of my lessons focus on speaking and listening. Before our lesson I can supply you with materials such as online articles or podcasts. In addition, I have lots of grammar material to help you learn the more technical aspects of the language.

Throughout the lesson, I will send corrections and examples so that you have the opportunity to practice after the lesson. Should you require it I can also provide you with homework opportunities which will be marked prior to our next lesson.

In our lessons I will give you the maximum possible amount of opportunities to speak English, and of course to have an interesting and fun lesson whilst learning new vocabulary and grammar.
