Wendy is a very empathetic teacher who is very flexible. She challenges me with kindness and encourages me. Learning Dutch is not easy and I always get so much motivation after her lessons. She also adapts to my busy schedule and learning style.

Hi, my name is Wendy Rijshouwer, 43 years old and I live in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
I'm a native speaker Dutch. I've been teaching Dutch since 1994 at several schools in and around Rotterdam and individually to students for the last two years (for integration exams of middle school exams).
Next to Dutch, I also speak English and a bit German and French.
I offer a free trial lesson to new students, and I offer discount on lessons if you follow more lessons with me.
Abschlüsse und Erfahrung
My education consists of:
- Middle school diploma achieved with subjects: Dutch, English, German and some more.
- Education to become a certified elementary school teacher
- Education to become a certified management assistant (specialize Dutch writing)
- Courses on how to teach Dutch to foreigners.
- Courses on conversation lessons to refugees.
Teaching experience:
From 1994 - 2007 Elementary school teacher on various schools in Rotterdam.
From 2007 - 2010 Management-assistant at Hogeschool Rotterdam.
From 2010 until now - teaching Dutch language at several middle schools in and around Rotterdam, including International middle school where students (aged 12-18) received accelerated learning in order to go to regular middle and high schools.
From 2015 until now - teacher integration and tutoring - students who want to pass their integration exams or state-exams are individually helped until they pass (from level A1); including voluntary work giving conversation lessons to Syrian Refugees in order to integrate in Dutch society (by Vluchtelingenwerk Nederland).
Tutoring individual students for middle school exams.
During all those years of teaching I gained experience in teaching classes, small groups and individuals.
I want to use that experience to help more people to learn Dutch or become better in Dutch.
Lehransatz
During my classes I always use the students background and what he/she wants to achieve as my focus point, and I adjust the level of my classe to the level of the student.
My classes always matches the students perceptions.
After the first lesson/intake, I make an individual plan focused on the student's goals.
During my classes I give homework if the student wants to.

Opleiding tot leerkracht basisschool (diploma behaald)
Van 1994 - 2007 leerkracht op verschillende basisscholen in Rotterdam.
van 2007 - 2010 directiesecretaresse bij Hogeschool Rotterdam
van 2010 tot heden docent Nederlands op verschillende scholen voor voortgezet onderwijs, inclusief Internationale Schakelklas (NT2 aan leerlingen van 12-18 jaar)
van 2015 tot heden docent inburgering en bijles - waarbij de student individueel begeleid wordt tot het behalen van het inburgeringsexamen of staatsexamen (vanaf niveau A1).
En bijles aan leerlingen van de middelbare school om hun Nederlands te verbeteren en examentrainingen.
Ik spreek vloeiend en accentloos Nederlands (ABN) en ik geef les in lezen, schrijven, spreken, grammatica, (werkwoord-)spelling, teksbegrip en algemene kennis van de Nederlandse Samenleving (KNS).
Lehransatz
Tijdens mijn lessen ga ik altijd uit van wat de student kan én wat hij/zij wil bereiken en pas het niveau van mijn lessen hierop aan.
Mijn lessen sluiten aan bij de belevingswereld van de student.
Na de eerste les/intake maak ik een individueel lesplan waarbij de doelen van de student centraal staan.
Tijdens de lessen geef ik huiswerk als de student dit wil.
De lessen gebruik ik om te converseren (spreken), nieuwe dingen aan te leren, huiswerk te bespreken en wat de student verder graag wil leren.
