My name is Elena and I am 29 years old. I am Spanish, but since one year ago I have been living in England. I am teaching Spanish here to adults and teenagers.

In Spain I taught Spanish for six years, both private lessons as refresher classes at a Secondary school.

I love to teach, and all my studies and experience are about education. I also love the Spanish, my language, so teach Spanish is interesting, motivating and fun for me. I really enjoy teaching Spanish.

I'm used to prepare my classes, do my teaching schedules for each student, seek, create, adapt and organize materials and resources for my classes.

Regarding my character, I am so patient, which I think is essential to teach. I am also enthusiastic, and I am able to transmit that enthusiasm to my students and motivate, encourage and support them.

In my lessons, I always teach some new content (always followed by exercises to practice what they have learned), and I also review things that the student has learnt before. By exercises I use written, oral, listening exercises, watching videos, songs, games and different techniques to get the student talk.

I like to do a balance between all these resources, mixing the most "boring" or static things, with others that are more fun and dynamic, because then the student's attention does not wane.

And another thing that I find very important and I always do is adapt the lesson to each student (giving more emphasis on things the student has more problems, giving them more material and giving materials to practice on their own). I also adapt the lesson according with their personal preferences. For example, when I prepare materials for students to talk about or recommend resources to read, it will always be more effective if the topic is interesting for the student, because he will be more motivated.

And if for example I have to prepare an scheme for a lesson to explain the difference between "este" "ese" and "aquel", and my student likes cats, I will prepare it with pictures of cats instead of something else, because he will remember the theory too much better.

I provide balanced and personalized classes, so that students have more success learning Spanish.

Me llamo Elena y tengo 29 años. Soy española, pero desde hace un año estoy viviendo en Inglaterra. Hace once meses que me dedico a dar clases de español para extranjeros. En España he sido profesora durante seis años, tanto de clases particulares, como de clases de repaso en un instituto, y he enseñado español (lengua castellana), así como otras materias.

Me gusta mucho dar clases, y todos mis estudios y experiencia van dirigidos hacia la educación. También adoro el español, mi lengua, por lo que enseñar español me parece apasionante, interesante, motivador y divertido. Realmente disfruto dando mis clases y enseñando mi lengua a otros.

Estoy acostumbrada a preparar mis clases, hacer mis programaciones didácticas para cada estudiante, a llevar un seguimiento de los alumnos y a buscar, crear, adaptar y organizar materiales y recursos para mis clases.

En cuanto a mi carácter, tengo mucha paciencia, algo que me parece esencial para dar clase. También soy entusiasta, y sé transmitir ese entusiasmo a mis estudiantes, así como motivarlos, animarlos y apoyarlos.

La metodología que utilizo en mis clases, es principalmente ir dando contenidos nuevos (siempre seguidos de ejercicios para poner en práctica lo aprendido), y siempre ir repasando, también mediante ejercicios, las cosas ya aprendidas, para que no se olviden. Por ejercicios entiendo ejercicios escritos, orales, de escucha con audios, visualización de vídeos, canciones, juegos y diferentes técnicas para hacer hablar al estudiante.

Me gusta que haya un equilibrio entre todos estos recursos, es decir, ir mezclando las cosas más “aburridas” o estáticas, con las que son más divertidas y dinámicas, porque así consigo que la atención del estudiante no decaiga.

Y otra cosa que me parece muy importante y que siempre hago es adaptarme a cada alumno. Por supuesto respecto su aprendizaje: haciendo más hincapié en las cosas donde está encontrando más dificultades: repasándolo más en las lecciones y dándole materiales para que practique por su cuenta.

Pero también en cuanto a sus gustos y preferencias personales. Por ejemplo, a la hora de preparar materiales para que el alumno hable o recomendarle recursos para que lea, siempre será más efectivo tener en cuenta esos gustos y preferencias, porque el estudiante tendrá más motivación.

Y me gusta ir más allá todavía. Si por ejemplo tengo que preparar un cuadro explicativo o tabla para una lección para explicar la diferencia entre “este” “ese” y “aquel”, y a mi alumno le gustan los gatos, lo prepararé con imágenes de gatos en vez de otra cosa, porque (aunque pueda parecer una tontería), lo recordará mucho mejor.

Por lo tanto, clases equilibradas y personalizadas, para que el alumno tenga más éxito aprendiendo español.
