I am a British teacher who specializes in preparing candidates for the IELTS and TOEFL exams.

I believe that my main qualities are patience and my commitment to helping people succeed with their language goals at their own pace, by using encouragement and building self-belief.

I prefer teaching adults.

I have IELTS and Cambridge Advanced English certificates, both at C2 level. I completed a Cambridge ESOL Teaching Knowledge Test, and am certified at band 4 for this qualification. I have also completed various online courses, with organizations like EDX, such as Leaders of Learning, English Grammar and Style, and The Art of Teaching.

I have been teaching English for the last 10 years, both in the classroom and online. I also evaluate candidates' English level as part of recruitment processes on behalf of many important Colombian companies.

As well as teaching General English and Business English, I specialize in IELTS and TOEFL exam preparation.

I am also currently involved in teacher training.

As a teacher, my emphasis is on enabling my students to feel confident about understanding English in any situation and to communicate effectively when speaking and writing. Although grammar is important, it's not the main focus of my classes. I don't have a rigid methodology: I believe that no one approach is suitable for everybody, therefore teaching technique should be adapted to meet the individual needs of the student.

I teach English in English in a fun, relaxed manner, by giving clear, easy to understand examples of the language followed by sufficient practice in entertaining ways. I very much focus on giving the student the self-confidence and self-belief necessary for success and take away the students` fear of making errors. I have the ability to laugh at myself and believe that through this I can help students to gain the right attitude to learning.
