Abschlüsse und Erfahrung

With a solid academic foundation in Greek Philology (B.A.) with a specialization in Linguistics and a Master’s degree in Teaching Greek as a Second/Foreign Language from the University of Athens, I bring nearly a decade of experience in education. For over eight years, I’ve focused on teaching Greek as a second/foreign language across all levels, ages, and specialties, particularly with adult learners in non-formal settings. I’m also experienced in preparing students for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek (Ellinomatheia).

I’ve also worked as a Greek tutor in the philanthropy sector, teaching Greek to adult refugees and immigrants to support their integration. Additionally, my involvement in the EU’s Erasmus+ program has allowed me to teach Greek at the Official School of Languages of Barcelona and the Greek Community of Catalonia, enriching my experience in international and multicultural education.

Lehransatz

The more exposure you have to Greek, the more naturally it will come to you. While we may occasionally need to switch to English, we'll focus on using Greek as much as possible to build your confidence and expand your vocabulary. By immersing yourself in the language, even with mistakes, you’ll develop independence and fluency, because effective communication is the ultimate goal.

My teaching approach is centered on the communicative method. This means you’ll be actively using Greek in real-life scenarios—asking and answering questions, making requests, describing, narrating, and comparing. Rather than isolating grammar rules, we’ll learn them in context, ensuring fluency grows naturally through meaningful conversations and tasks.

In our lessons, you’ll engage in activities like composing dialogues, solving problems through negotiation, or narrating stories based on visual cues. For example, we might plan a dinner together or discuss similarities and differences between images. This method builds your communicative competence by allowing you to practice in practical, relatable situations.

Grammar, however, remains crucial. It’s the backbone that supports effective communication. We’ll find the right balance between understanding grammar and applying it in real contexts. To keep things engaging, we’ll use games, activities, and multimedia tools that make learning grammar fun and interactive.

Consistency is key. The more you practice, the more fluent and accurate you become. We’ll regularly revisit grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation through varied activities like songs, fill-in-the-blank exercises, and memory games. Language learning is cumulative, so consolidation is essential. We’ll incorporate review into every lesson and use homework as a tool to reinforce what you’ve learned, helping you carry something valuable away from each session.

Cultural immersion is another pillar of our lessons. We’ll explore the richness of Greek culture through TV shows, films, and other media. I value interaction and your input, so I’d love to know what you already know about Greek culture and what you’re eager to learn more about. Your feedback helps tailor our journey to your interests, making learning both enjoyable and relevant to you.
