My name is Keir and I am an English teacher currently based in Hertford, UK and I have been teaching English for three years now, in a variety of different positions. I love being an EFL teacher as I feel learning a language really makes a difference to students and opens up many other opportunities for them. I obtained an A Level in French and currently study Spanish and Italian for the same reason. It is also a job which allows you to meet lots of interesting people from all walks of life.
In my free time I also love travelling, yoga, photography, reading and walking my dog Milo.
I have a BA in English and American Studies from the University of Leicester. Since obtaining my CELTA qualification from International House London in 2015, I have taught English as a foreign language in Spain, Italy and the UK. I have taught a range of ages, from children of 3 years old to adults. I have experience of teaching both group classes and 1 to 1 lessons and I have prepared students for the Trinity ISE/GESE exams as well as Cambridge PET/FCE. I also teach general English and classes focusing on oral agility and fluency.
In general, I like lessons to be informative but also fun, interactive and relaxed so that the student can feel at ease speaking English. I am happy to create lessons which cater to the needs of each individual student, whether that be a focus on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or whichever other area the student requires. As a foreign language learner myself I understand the challenges language learners can face, and can create activities to help with these specific areas.
