I'm an Italian girl who is currently living in Helsinki, Finland. I have recently obtained my Master's Degree and TEFL Certificate and I am ready to jump-start my career as an English teacher! I am a native Italian speaker, but I consider English to be my "second native language", as it has been my main means of communication over the last two years. I have attended an English summer camp in London when I was 13 and I have spent a week at an American high school when I was 17. I love travelling and getting to know new people and cultures - I don't get scared easily!

Since I have been working with kids for years, I can say that I undoubtedly am a patient teacher. When teaching, I prefer to focus on the fluency, rather than proficiency - I like it when my students get 100% involved in the lessons, and I don't think that teaching boring grammar rules ONLY is a good way to make them happy! I am versatile, and I like to differentiate the lessons I offer with several kinds of activities (like singing, for example).

Sono una ragazza madrelingua italiana attualmente residente a Helsinki, Finlandia. Ho da poco ottenuto una laurea magistrale in economia, ma in triennale ho studiato lingue e culture straniere (Inglese, Spagnolo e Tedesco). Considero l'Inglese un po' come la mia seconda lingua madre, dal momento che, da due anni a questa parte, ho utilizzato più quest'ultima dell'Italiano... quindi dialogare con persone che parlano una lingua differente dalla mia non mi spaventa per nulla! Ho dato ripetizioni private a bambini (6-16 anni) per diversi anni e so per certo di voler diventare un'insegnante, in futuro!

Avendo lavorato soprattutto con bimbi ed adolescenti, posso dire di essere un'insegnante paziente. Sono molto socievole e non mi imbarazzo a mettermi in gioco anche facendo attività che includono cantare, ballare, etc. Credo che la cosa più importante per uno studente non sia imparare a memoria noiose regole grammaticali, ma riuscire ad esprimersi (seppur non troppo correttamente all'inizio) nella lingua straniera, rompendo la barriera di imbarazzo che spesso, a parer mio, rende l'apprendimento della lingua più complicato. Naturalmente questo dipende anche dall'età, dalle aspettative e dalle motivazioni del singolo studente.
