Über mich

¡Hola!

I'm a qualified native experienced Spanish teacher. I'm currently working as a teacher at a school and as a tutor in private lessons.

My working experience spans from young students to adult learners and covers all ranges of levels, from total beginners to advanced speakers. We would agree together a style of learning depending or you needs, as some people need to improve their writing or reading skills and others just need to gain some confidence with their speaking.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon,

Pablo

Abschlüsse und Erfahrung

My professional life started as a video editor. After a few years, I decided to reorientate my career towards languages, which I have always been passionate about. I resumed my studies in English and French and I continue to develop my skills in both languages. I also started a degree in Spanish Language and Literature, in which I recently graduated with First Class Honours. This included a course on Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, which I also passed with the highest grade.

I have been working as a teacher for seven years now both as a private tutor and teaching in schools. I readily build a good rapport with students and can engage them regardless of background or ability. My experience over the last few years has afforded me the occasion to develop my skills in creating interesting and motivational lessons.

This is my work experience as a teacher:

Lehransatz

At the school where I work we follow the communicative approach to teaching. The majority of my students there are adults whose objective is to be able to get by when they travel to Spanish speaking countries. We try to recreate real-life interactions and communicate real meaning. The focus is not on a perfect pronunciation or a spotless grammar, but on giving my students the tools to produce authentic language. Once they get the basics of Spanish, we try to polish their accent and grammar accuracy, but always keeping in mind the purpose of the learning process: providing them with the tools and confidence to interact in Spanish in real life.

Having said that, I tend to adapt my lessons to the student's needs: some of them need help only with their writing, for example. This is often the case with university students, who are seeking help with their essays or are asked to master complex grammar questions in written exams. Although it is not ideal for really learning a language, they are not interested in improving their ability to speak. I believe a teacher must be flexible and tailor lessons to the specific needs of every student. They need to know that the effort they are making is worthwhile and that we are making the most of their time. To achieve that, it is essential to plan the lessons according to the circumstances of every particular learner.

Finally, I try to avoid using the student's mother tongue because this obviously benefits my learners. However, I don't hesitate to use it if doing so helps maintaining the rhythm of the class or saves time with a complex grammar explanation.
