Ausführliches Profil auf Englisch

Über mich

I'm confident and outgoing with a friendly, easy going nature and I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life. I find it easy to make conversation with people from all over the world and am able to quickly put people at ease. I am a stay at home mom and I have been homeschooling my daughter for the past three years ( she is now seven years old).

I have always had a love of English which is why I chose to major in it as University. I also studied linguistics as this gave me a well rounded understanding of language acquisition and development. I wanted a career where I could benefit from my love of the English language and so I studied to be a journalist. After university I wanted to share my love of English and decided to do my CELTA course. I found this to be wonderfully instructive and I loved interacting with our students, who were immigrants from the

Democratic Republic of Congo. Although I have mostly taught adults, my years spent home-schooling my own daughter, who is seven, has given me greater experience and insight into teaching younger children.

My love of other people has encouraged me to travel and I have been fortunate to visit and stay indifferent countries in Africa and around the world. I have always formed good bonds with my students and some of my students have developed into life-long friends.

I look forward to the opportunity to help students with mastering English and meeting new students!

My teaching approach is eclectic but always with a focus on encouraging the students to feel more confident when speaking English. I am very patient with my students and believe in supporting and assisting them in a way that builds their confidence.

I believe that people learn faster when they are having fun and so I always try create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere where students feel encouraged and supported. Most of my teaching experience has had an emphasis on spoken English and I enjoy helping students with pronunciation and communicating effectively when speaking English. However, I do also believe an understanding of sentence structures and basic grammar does help students to self-correct. Having said that, at the end of the day, it always depends on the student and what their requirements are, I'm always happy to adjust my approach to suit their needs.
