Über mich - Englisch

Hello, everybody! My name is Helen, I am 32 years old and I have been teaching English for approximately ten years. My major at the university was teaching English as a foreign language and I have never regretted my choice of profession!

Through my working experience I have taught both adults and children. Teaching adults is very interesting and challenging, and due to the fact that most adults come to lessons with a long history of learning experience, to engage their attention, I usually need to balance the serious study of English with more entertaining ways and activities for learning.

As for children, frankly speaking, they are my favorite students. I love how enthusiastic and creative and curious they are! How everything is fresh and new for them! Working with children gives me the great impact of positive energy every day and the chance to rediscover the world with them.

I have a strong interest in teaching on-line, because I love travelling and I can work everywhere. I am looking forward to this new opportunity in my life. Thanks for considering me. Hope to hear from you soon! Bye-bye!

I believe children learn best in the stress-free environment, where learning is organized to resemble games as much as possible. Since I know that children start listening long before they learn to speak, I believe in using TPR activities during the first classes. I know most children are visual learners and need to be provided visual stimulation to be engaged. The younger the child, the shorter the attention span they have, which means the activities need to last no longer than 3-5 minutes, then they have to be changed.

When the lessons are taught on-line, the teacher is not only the source of information, but also the model of enthusiasm, so the teacher needs to be as active and engaged, as it is only possible.

When I work with adults, I base my teaching on the needs analysis. Adults benefit most from targeted instruction. However, they also need to be cognitively engaged to progress faster. Also whenever English is taught, where it is not a first language, the students need to be given MAXIMUM opportunities for speaking during their English class.
