I am from a lovely town near to London in England and have spent most of my time here. I have many hobbies and am particularly passionate about travelling. Although I have mostly lived and travelled around Europe, I am looking forward to exploring many new places in the near future. In a addition to my passion for travelling, I also love music.
Although I am now a professional English teacher, I trained as a classical pianist and composer, and still continue to enjoy playing and writing music whenever I can. Other passions include learning languages, writing, reading and cooking.
My qualifications include a PhD in Applied Linguistics, an MA in TESOL (Teaching English Speakers of English as a Foreign Language) and a CELTA teaching qualification.
I have been teaching English as a foreign language since 2008, and have worked in a number of language schools and academic institutions, both in the UK and abroad. I have experience of teaching English for a range of levels and purposes, including English for general purposes, as well as business, academic, medical and banking purposes. I also have vast experience of exam preparation, including FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS, etc.
At the core of my teaching methodology is the understanding that language needs to be meaningful to the user. This means that my lessons are tailored to the specific needs of my students. So, whether you want brush up on your English in preparation for a holiday, or because you are a business person who needs to work on the language of negotiations, my role as your tutor is to equip you with the language that you need and can apply in a meaningful way.
We will discover this language through interesting and engaging lessons, and we will practise your target language until you feel comfortable enough to use it in real life communication. My students describe me as patient, kind and friendly.
