Hello, thank you for looking at my profile and considering me as your tutor. I am 49 years old and live in California in the United States. I love learning and helping others to learn. I have a family and 2 dogs. I am retired, but continue to tutor students of all ages and serve as a private consultant to help teachers improve their practice. I love being a teacher! I look forward to helping you with your learning goals.

I have taught in the classroom for more than 24 years. I’ve taught elementary students, middle years’ students, college students, parents, teachers, and administrators. I have taught at schools with a very high English Language Learner population of students. Many of my students have entered my classroom with very little English skills, but all have left with significant improvements in their English levels - as measured by state mandated testing for English Learners (CELDT, etc) I have worked with students that have many different home languages, which include (but are not limited to) - Chinese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Russian, Romanian, Spanish, Punjabi and many more. I was the lead language development specialist, supporting teachers with best practices for instruction at 7 schools leveled K-12. I have taught students in various settings from one-on-one up to large groups of more than 100. I I enjoy all teaching all ages of students. I have been honored many times for being an exceptional teacher. I have students who keep in touch with me even years after they have left my class, just to tell me thank you again for being a great teacher.

I love teaching English. My lessons are personalized, organized, and fun. My students always feel comfortable and find the time goes by quickly. They enjoy learning with me because I am a fun teacher.

During the first lesson, we will identify exactly what you want to improve and I will design your personalized lessons accordingly. If you would like, I offer activities to do after each lesson that we can discuss in the next lesson, such as watching brief videos or reading articles online.

I am a certified English Language Development Specialist and can help you sound more like a native English speaker. I will help you pronounce sounds in English that are difficult for speakers of your language. My goal is to have your pronunciation be as clear and understandable as possible so that people can understand you and it will be easier for you to understand them.

As a qualified English teacher, I can also help you improve your grammar skills, increase your vocabulary, and teach you proper use of verbs.

I can also help you prepare to pass IELTS, TOEFL, FCE and other internationally recognized English proficiency tests, have successful job interviews, give great presentations, and, I can proofread your writing in English.
