Hello! My name is Rakrawee Chaisuriya but my friends and family call me Punchie. I’m a Thai and English teacher based in Nonthaburi, about fifteen minutes outside of Bangkok. In my free time I love travelling, painting, reading, watching movies, swimming and enjoying the many other awesome things that Bangkok has to offer. I began teaching and tutoring right after I graduated from university right here in Bangkok in 2015. I started teaching English in a language center but was quickly assigned to teach Thai to foreigners as well. Working in that language center gave me a lot of valuable teaching experience but I also found it a little restrictive in terms of the lesson plans and courses that I was expected to teach. In order to fix this problem, I decided to start teaching independently so that I could personalize each lesson to be perfect for that particular student, and focus on their own unique needs, instead of following the 'one size fits all' approach that language centers tend to prefer.

I’m fluent in English and have a great understanding of all the difficulties non-native speakers have with learning Thai. So, if you’re an English speaker, native or non-native, who wants to work on their Thai, I’m sure I can help you to reach your goals.

As a non-native English speaker myself, I know only too well how scary it can be to use a language that you are not confident in, especially when speaking with a native speaker. In order to make this problem a little easier on my students, I try to ensure that my lessons have a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and make sure my students feel comfortable making mistakes, trying out new words and experimenting with grammar.

Overall, my aim is to make sure my students are as comfortable as possible and enjoy our classes together, while still finding them useful and productive. However, I also understand that not everyone likes to learn in the same way so, if you’re looking for an intensive class, I'm more than happy to put a little more pressure on you to help you reach your goals as quickly as possible. And don't worry, we can always slow it down a little if it gets too much ,)

My classes vary from a super-beginner class, where I teach the very basics of Thai language, as well as introducing you to elements of Thai culture, to a more advanced class where we can debate a particular topic using what you have learned so far, or focus on improving a specific skill. Simply book a trial lesson for a time that suits you and we can discuss your own particular needs and the best way to meet them! :)

Additionally, if you are planning to visit Thailand for a holiday and want to learn just enough to be able to make your travels here a little easier and a little more rewarding, I also offer a 'Thai 4 Travelers' course, in which I cover the most practical elements of Thai language across a ten lesson course. You'll learn how to count, negotiate, order food, take a taxi, reserve a room and much more. Just imagine how impressed your friends will be when you start negotiating with the Thai taxi driver and giving him directions back to your hotel :D

Oh, and don't worry, unless you request otherwise, in the first class I will greet you and introduce myself in English, so there's no need to feel nervous ,)
