Hi, my name is Rhonda! I enjoy teaching, art, photography, hiking, cooking, creating new recipes, and traveling whenever possible. I enjoy meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. I am a lifelong learner and love to learn more about the world in which we all share, by hearing people's stories/testimonies. I also enjoy watching documentaries to see/hear about interesting topics I might not otherwise become aware of... It is such a wonderful world! Yes, there are problems, yet I tend to focus more on the positive, sunny side of life! My students have often told me my thankful attitude and "cheerfulness" is contagious. I do love to spread joy, as there is much to be thankful for!

Teaching Experience:

Tutor/Teacher ~ I have been teaching English as a second language (ESL) for the past year, online. I have also tutored children/teenagers, and adults in core subjects - in person - for well over 10 years! I enjoy teaching classes in the arts, such as drama and photography. The primary focus is to improve the students use of the English language.

I enjoy teaching core subjects, in addition to teaching the English language online. My current Chinese students range in age from toddlers to teenagers, though I also enjoy teaching adult classes.

I have been the Director of Children's Ministries for the past 3 years. My responsibilities include teaching the older students, selecting/creating age appropriate curriculum for all classes, hiring/training teachers, classroom organization, overseeing children's events, and attending meetings. In addition, I produce monthly presentations, such as plays & songs, for the students to perform in front of the congregation.

I have taught English in the public school system, as a long-term substitute teacher. I have also tutored adults to improve their grammar and English speaking skills.

I have volunteered to mentor at-risk youth in the inner city, and assisted adults in securing housing, employment, and counseling.

I enjoy teaching, and helping others learn more about topics that may interest them, while they practice speaking English. I strive to keep my English (ESL) classes enjoyable for the student, while offering lots of encouragement along the way! I also believe homework is important, as learning another language is a skill acquired through daily practice. Thus in my lesson planning, I purpose to create both class content and homework that is relevant to the level/abilities of the student, as I also cater to their unique interest. This approach helps ensure steady progress, and an enjoyable experience for the student!
