Hello ladies and gents

My name is Feri. I have been studying this amazing language for 36 years and teaching it for 24. I have devoted my life to it and I still have not had enough of it. I live in the UK and I am said to have a British accent. I love accents and dialects, so my favourite fields of study are phonetics and phonology. I like travelling inside the UK, because I can hear and study the differences in English people's pronunciation in certain parts of the country. I used to be able to speak Russian, although due to the lack of practice it has got a bit rusty, but I understand quite a few things. The same is true for German. I teach English and Hungarian, and these are the languages that I speak fluently.

In my spare time I look after my animals and play table tennis as I used to be a player at national level and a coach and love playing it. Recently I have started going to the gym again after quite a long time. I love music, too. When I was in my teens, I used to be a singer. I sang in choirs and a band.

After finishing secondary school I spent two years in London as an au-pair. That was the point when English became an essential part of my life. I got my Bachelor's Degree in English language and literature teaching in 1999 in Hungary. I started my professional career there. I taught at language schools, a primary and secondary school, colleges and universities. I had the opportunity to teach general, business, telecommunications, military English and English for real estate, catering and law. I used to work in real estate for 5 years, where, among other responsibilities, I had to negotiate contracts with foreign investors.

I used to work as a business trainer for telecommunications professionals at Hungary's biggest service provider. I also worked at an international business school where I first had the opportunity to teach international students. I prepared students for exams including LCCI, IELTS, EuroPro and BEC there.

I also had private students for 18 years. As well as improving their general language skills I prepared them for the following mono- and bilingual exams: ITK Origo, Kitex, Trinity, Pitman, TELC, FCE, CAE, Euro and ECL. I did translations in finance, general business, marketing, real estate and law. I also translated film scripts and while I was working at colleges and universities I was asked to proofread dissertations and assignments.

Here in the UK I have worked in summer camps and a secondary school. I have a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), which is needed in order to be able to teach in a British school. Since I completed my MA degree and worked at pre-sessional courses at a university, I have started to support students with their academic writing skills.

In my teaching I mainly use the CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) and TBLT (Task Based Language Teaching) approach. Accordingly, my students will encounter the following in my lessons:

- special attention to the needs of the learner

- emphasis on functions such as agreeing or disagreeing, asking for advice or expressing opinions

- a desire to provide a supportive and guilt-free learning environment

- language items presented in contexts of typical use

- toleration of errors as inevitable and part of the process of learning a language

- less emphasis on language forms meaning grammatical problems

Students say they like my lessons, because they learn while they are having fun. I have never charged anyone for a trial lesson, because that is the time for me to assess the student's level of knowledge and create a good rapport. And anyway, it is like at the dentist - the consultation is free. It is just not so scary, I hope.:-)

Kedves potenciális diákjelölt!

Ferinek hívnak. Budapesten születtem, és életem nagy részét ott töltöttem. Most Angliában élek, mert idevonzott a nyelv (az angol). Egy abszolút véletlen folytán lettem tanár, személyiségem alapján inkább komikusnak vagy színésznek kellett volna szegődnöm. A nyelvek mindig könnyen mentek, magyar nyelvórán többször kijavítottam a tanárt, mert úgy éreztem, hogy nem helyes az, amit a táblára írt. Emiatt többször megütöttem a bokámat. Pár osztálytársammal rendszeresen összeültünk és segítettünk egymásnak különböző tárgyak tanulásában. Nekem matekból volt szükségem egy kis képzésre, másoknak meg a nyelvekkel gyűlt meg a baja, ekkor léptem én a színre. Így kezdődött.

Az iskolában és a kerületben egy osztálytársam és én nyertük minden évben a szavaló és szépkiejtési versenyt, és minden ünnepélyen szavaltunk (mert kellett). Jó néhány iskolai darabban játszottam főbb szerepeket. Tanáraim azt akarták, hogy színész legyek mindenáron. Engem azonban lámpaláz gyötört minden fellépésnél. Egy szó mint száz, nem lettem színész.

Miután tanár lettem, egy nemzetközi főiskolán tanítottam, ahol számos külföldi diák érdeklődött a magyar nyelv iránt. Segítettem nekik, és ezután többen kérték, hogy foglalkozzak velük magánúton is. Több európai és kínai diák magyarországi letelepedéséhez jelentősen hozzájárultam.

12 évig készítettem fordításokat. Kedvenc területem a marketing volt, ahol bátran játszhattam a nyelvvel. Weboldalakhoz is írtam reklám szövegeket. Ezen kívül film forgatókönyveket is fordítottam, melyek amerikai producerek kezében landoltak.

Voltak tanítványaim, akik az iránt érdeklődtek, hogy mi módon épül fel a magyar nyelv, mert össze akarták hasnlítani más nyelvekkel. Ez számomra is nagyon érdekes volt.

Bármi legyen is a célod a magyar nyelvvel, én teljes erőbedobással fogok hozzá asszisztálni.

Szóra sem érdemes, hogy azt fogjuk tanulni és úgy, ahogyan szeretnéd. Én tanácsokkal foglak ellátni, te pedig eldöntöd, hogy megfogadod-e őket vagy sem.

Az úgynevezett produktív készségeket szoktam előtérbe helyezni, tehát a beszéd és írás készségét. A tanórák anyagát összeállítom és átküldöm előre.

Az írásbeli munkáidat az óra után nézem meg, és küldök visszajelzést.

Nem fogom leírni azt, amit mindenki, hogy "Az én óráimon kötetlen a hangulat..." blablabla. Jelentkezz be egyre, és döntsd el, hogy tetszik-e! Minden kötelezettség nélkül.
