Hello! I am Alkisti Chatzinikolaou. I was born and raised in Athens, Greece. Greek is my native language but I started learning English at the age of 7. By the time I was 15, I had received all the certificates of learning English. After school, I studied English Language and Literature at the University of Athens. During my studies, I visited the University of Lancaster for six months through a student exchange programme. I graduated in 2017 and I currently live and study in Scotland, doing a masters course at the University of Stirling.

During my studies, I taught English as a second language for 3 years. I have experience teaching children as well as adults. I qualified from the Ministry of Education in Greece to teach English and as an undergraduate, I attended a lot of courses about teaching techniques and methods. I have experience tutoring for specific certificates, as well as for language improvement.

I believe it is very important to take into consideration the students themselves when creating a lesson. I always discuss with the student their aims when starting to learn a new language and take into consideration their needs and interests when creating a lesson plan. I make sure that the lesson is not only useful but also interesting to them and that it focuses on their specific needs. The lesson is entirely in the target language so that the student can have an immersive experience.

Γειά σας! Με λένε Άλκηστη Χατζηνικολάου. Γεννήθηκα και μεγάλωσα στην Αθήνα και τα Ελληνικά είναι η μητρική μου γλώσσα. Στην ηλικία των 7 χρονών άρχισα να μαθαίνω Αγγλικά και μέσα σε 8 χρόνια κατάφερα να πάρω όλα τα διπλώματα της γλώσσας. Σπούδασα Αγγλική Γλώσσα και Φιλολογία στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών. Κατά την διάρκεια των σπουδών μου έζησα για 6 μήνες στην Αγγλία ως μέρος ενός προγράμματος ανταλλαγής φοιτητών. Αποφοίτησα το 2017 και αυτήν την στιγμή ζω στην Σκωτία όπου κάνω το μεταπτυχιακό μου στο πανεπιστήμιο του Στέρλινγκ.

Παράλληλα με τις σπουδές μου, δίδασκα Αγγλικά στην Ελλάδα για τρία χρόνια. Έχω εμπειρία με παιδιά και ενήλικες και ακολουθήσαμε προετοιμασία για πτυχίο με κάποιους από αυτούς. Δεν έχω διδάξει Ελληνικά ως ξένη γλώσσα στο παρελθόν αλλά, βασισμένη στην επιτυχία που είχα ως καθηγήτρια Αγγλικών, είμαι σίγουρη ότι θα μπορώ να δημιουργήσω ένα μάθημα κατάλληλο για τον κάθε μαθητή, ειδικά εφόσον τα Ελληνικά είναι η μητρική μου γλώσσα.

Θεωρώ πολύ σημαντικό να υπάρχει κατανόηση μεταξύ καθηγητή και μαθητή. Η δομή του μαθήματος θα βασιστεί στις ανάγκες του κάθε μαθητή και θα εξαρτηθεί από τους στόχους του ίδιου. Το κάθε μάθημα δημιουργείται από εμένα ειδικά για τον μαθητή ώστε να ανταποκρίνεται στις ανάγκες, τις ικανότητες και τα ενδιαφέροντά του.
