I am a native Czech speaker with 6 years of experience in teaching both Czech and English. I currently specialise in teaching all levels of Czech online as my clients are mainly native English speakers. I am also currently trying to extend my portfolio and teach English as a second language, which is what I had been doing in the first place.

I began my teaching endeavours shortly after I moved to London in 2013. It started innocently, as I only wanted to use my spare time to learn something new, but it has since grown into a business, thus I am now a self-employed, full-time teacher...and I love it!

It has been an interesting journey so far and an amazing experience for me, personally. Thanks to my students, I have gained a completely new perspective on my mother tongue and I have also had a chance to shape my knowledge of English. Studying psychology at the Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic) has also proved to be invaluable as I learnt a great deal about our mental faculties - how our memory, motivation, and learning strategies work. I have also been very fortunate to teach a lot of interesting people, and covering all grammatical concepts with different students meant that I have been able to adapt various approaches when explaining them, gradually getting closer to an ideal way of facilitating your learning progress.

Combination of all these factors has helped me to see the subject through my students' eyes and it led me to backing my experience scientifically, too. The lessons, and the whole study program that I offer, are therefore tailored accordingly.

During our lessons, I like using a combination of textbooks and workbooks (Česky krok za krokem 1 & 2 by Lída Holá, other books for more advanced students). Based on your preferences and needs, the lessons will include reading, speaking, and pronunciation exercises, explanation of new grammar, testing your knowledge, revising what you know, etc.

For homework, I prefer audio recordings and the Memrise app, which contains targeted vocabulary exercises, as I have created several courses covering everything that you need to know. This should maximise the exposure to any given topic, so that diligent students can improve significantly outside the lessons as well.
