I really enjoyed my Norwegian lesson with Joakim. He is polite and patient, and I especially appreciated that he wrote my mistakes in the chat for me to review afterwards. It was fun, too. I am looking forward to my next lesson with him. Takk!

I've really enjoyed my weekly skype conversation classes with Joakim. He has created a Google Doc for me with lists of useful phrases, adverbs and nouns. We add to it together or I can also make additions in my own time. He's very patient with my constant umming and aahing and we always have a fun and educational time together! Tusen takk Joakim og god jul!
I am a 30 year old teacher, currently working in a Norwegian secondary school (grades 8 to 10). However, I am an MBA (Master of Business Administration), and have worked in the service industry and as a business developer in India. Additionally, I have worked voluntarily in Africa, as well as in the international student organization of AIESEC.
I am a passionate traveler and really interested in sports. I really enjoy discovering and learning about (to me) new cultures and religions around the globe, which is probably why I was bitten by the travel bug in the first place.

Learning should be conversation based, including speaking and listening. In addition, reading and writing will complete the learning experience. I strongly believe in the effect of multiple learning tools. I therefore recommend using language learning apps as a complement to language lessons.
Knowing the student(s) is also essential. Thus, our mutual expectations can be set and we could base the lessons upon interests and motivations for learning the language.
I expect the learner of Norwegian to be more or less self-driven. That means that you will actively participate in your own learning. I don't use any (Norwegian course) textbooks, I mainly rely on the student for learning resources. My role is more of a language (conversation) partner and language problem solver, in comparison to a teacher. As a result, I don't give homework - it's your responibility to learn at your own pace and according to your motivation. I will, however, be as helpful as I can with helping finding resources and learning material based on your interest(s).
I try to compare Norwegian with English and also German (as these are related languages to Norwegian).
