My name is Carlos. I was born in 1961 in Moita, Portugal. I taught in several public schools in Barreiro, near Lisbon, for six years, right after my graduation . I like to learn languages and got fluent in English and French but I have also learnt a bit of German, Russian, Spanish and Italian.
I have a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures taken at the Universidade Clássica de Lisboa in 1984. I started teaching Portuguese and English in public schools in 1985 to 5th/6th grade students (ages 9 to 12). Later, I taught these two languages to older children (adolescents) and even to adults before becoming a professional teacher after a two year professionalizing post graduation training taken at Universidade do Minho, Braga-Portugal. I’m living in this town since 1990 and I've been teaching in a public school near Guimarães since I completed post graduation training in 1991. Right now I have a total of 30 years of non stopping public school teaching on both Portuguese and English languages.
I teach all levels, from beginner to advanced.
I think learning a foreign language online requires a flexible approach. The student will learn not only the use of the language but also its cultural context with focus on sounds or pronounciation. Grammar will be taught accordingly to the students’ needs. I’m counting on the use of the available internet resources (text files and videos) to complement lessons and consolidate general understanding.
Finally this will no doubt be a thrilling experience for both learners and teacher.
