Hi! My name is Martin. I'm British and come from the south of England but I was educated in Manchester, in the north of England. You might have heard of Manchester but you may not know much about it. Aside from being the home of two world class football teams, the city is an historical hub of innovation, science and progress. The old Victorian saying, "What Manchester thinks today, the world does tomorrow." still applies today to some extent. Google 'graphene', if you're interested. I hope our classes can reflect that spirit. I aim to push your English beyond the boundaries of what you think is possible. I have lived and worked abroad: Firstly, as a property salesman in Germany and then later as an English teacher at a secondary school in Austria. I have also spent quite a long time in Japan in addition to having visited many more countries including: the USA, Hungary, Slovenia, Spain, France, Belgium, Egypt, Belarus, The Czech Republic, Malta and the Republic of Ireland. I have been teaching English online for more than 7 years to many students from all walks of life and from all over the world. Some have wanted to improve their General English and conversation, some have needed to pass an exam such as IELTS and some have required pronunciation training and/or to brush up on their Business English. Whatever your needs, I would love to help you with your English. I am a graduate of the University of Manchester, where I studied Modern Languages and Business Management (specialising in German as my main foreign language). I hold a Cambridge CELTA and am therefore qualified to teach English as a Foreign Language. Additionally, I graduated with a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status in the summer of 2018, which qualifies me to teach in British secondary schools (high schools). I look forward to meeting you very soon!
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education), Qualified Teacher Status, Manchester Metropolitan University (2017-2018)
- CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), The University of Cambridge, UK (2017)

- 7 years of teaching experience
- Over 5000 hours of online classes taught
- Over 600 students
Having tutored hundreds of students from every continent around the world with more than 5000 hours worth of online tutoring experience, you can be confident that your English needs will be met and that improvements will be seen in a very short amount of time.
I offer a variety of options, all designed to give you the best value and the most targeted service tailored to your requirements. Although every student is different and your individual needs can be discussed in a no-obligation free trial (only for new students) prior to commencing our sessions, examples of previous courses I have taught include:
- General English
- British Pronunciation/Intonation Training
- Business English
- Exam Preparation (e.g. IELTS)
I make use of a variety of different resources in my sessions including current news articles and other media, such as video clips, particularly if the content enriches the students' understanding of the cultures of English speaking countries.
An interactive, online whiteboard is also sometimes used to help clarify language points and to act as a tool for language related games and activities, which often prove popular among the younger of my students, although the grown-ups often appreciate this as well :).
For those students wanting more structured sessions in which language progress is usually faster, a variety of course books can be recommended.
