Bonjour! My name is Clémence, I am a French native speaker and I have been teaching this language for 7 years. In the last 2 years, I have been teaching online and it has been a great experience so far with a lot of success for my students.
I have a Master's Degree in French as a Second Language that I completed in France in 2013. I also graduated from an American university with a Master's in Education the same year. Before that I was studying English and Spanish and I have a Bachelor's Degree in English literature and history. Thanks to the opportunities I've had to travel and work abroad, I can speak English and Spanish fluently.
I worked in the UK as a French assistant right after my undergraduate degree. I pursued my studies in the US while I was also teaching French in the same university. After I got both my Master's, I decided to move to South America and stayed almost 3 years in Colombia working both at the Alliance Française and at a bilingual school. Since 2015, I have taught French online and worked at a local French school in my town.
Even though all my work experiences were highly beneficial, I must say that the online experience is the one that taught me the most. Working with people from all over the world, and with different levels and needs, has allowed me to learn a lot and be able today to tailor classes according to each person's needs.
Even though my classes are focused on communication, I do believe that grammar is important. I try not to spend so much time on it during our session since there are plenty of resources and exercises I can give you to study "outside the class". I like working with authentic material (newspaper articles, documentaries, news, podcasts...) but I have a lot of teaching material that can also be useful for people planning on taking a test (DELF exam for example). The trial session gives me the opportunity to know you better, to assess your level of French and to set objectives together. It is very important for me to know what you enjoy doing and talking about because it allows me to plan classes according to your interests and needs.
For beginner students: I will give you homework after the class so that you can work on what we’ve done and be prepared for the next class. I will try to give you both written and oral (comprehension) exercises.
For intermediate and advanced students: I will send you a preparation before the class : an article, a short video or even a movie if you want to improve your oral comprehension. During the class, I will ask you questions about it and we will share opinions. Related to the article or video, we will practice vocabulary and a few specific grammar points depending on your level.
Delf preparation : Methodology and practice (A1-C1): This course is for students wanting to prepare for the DELF exam. I'll give you material to work on your 4 language skills. I will also correct your essays.
