Hello, my name is Nia and I am a native English speaker with a British accent currently living in Spain. I am also an intermediate Spanish speaker with a very good sense of humour, when I make a language mistake. I have been teaching for over 10 years and have nearly 4 years experience as an English Language Examiner.
I graduated the top of my year in 2005 with a First Class honours degree from the University of Wales, Swansea. I was awarded a very prestigious academic prize from the international publisher 'Sweet and Maxwell' for "Outstanding Academic Achievement." Only one prize is awarded each year in the whole of the country.
In 2007 I graduated from a two year Post Graduate teaching degree with a specialism in English as a Foreign Language from the same university. Immediately I was hired by a well known private British boarding school and tutored Chinese students with regards to the IELTS exam so that they could gain entry into their selected university. I then went on to teach specialist courses related to English for Medicine in the British National Health Service. More recently I have been teaching English language learners in Spain. We have a lot of fun together conversing and playing games but also improving their English. My learners have gone from complete beginners to upper intermediate in only four years!
Part of my success is related to my work as an English examiner. I currently undertake and assess English examinations for both Cambridge University and Pearson. These are two of the most well known English Language providers in the world.
Teaching online is not a new thing for me as I was previously a tutor for the British Open University.
Experienced in IELTS, Cambridge FCE, PET, KET, Pearson iGCSE English Specialist English language knowledge for Medicine and Lawyers.
The capacity to learn another language is a gift. Yet the ability to learn that same language is a skill that takes practice. The willingness to employ both the capacity and the skill is a personal choice that can take the learner on an unimaginable journey.
Mistakes are the acceptance of that journey because they are unexpected learning experiences. Your language learning goals are also my goals. My role is to help achieve your target within the language you learn, while helping you see that the learning journey has no end or limit.
