Hello everyone! I am Carlos Lobo and I am from Venezuela. Currently, I live in Colombia and I've been teaching here for 1 year now. I can say that I am an outgoing and confident person who likes sharing information and teaching. To me, tutoring is not only about explaining grammar to students, it is about teaching people content- based information through any language. Let's remember, it is important to understand the culture to really learn the language. Also, I like talking to students and acquiring knowledge from them. In addition, whenever I have a day off, I love hanging out with my friends, watching movies, dancing salsa and reading books about drama and history.
I studied Linguistics and Hispano-American and Venezuelan Literature. I am a Spanish Teacher. I have been teaching languages for more than 9 years now and have taught in Venezuela and Colombia. I have studied teaching methodologies from the University of Maryland-Baltimore and the US Embassy. In addition, I have presented about how to teach through new techniques at TESOL international and multiple amount of conferences. To end, I've been a DELE, TOEFL, and teacher trainer for 5 years.
I have always been a teacher who loves using authentic material when teaching. I believe in making the learning process formative and real to achieve a successful learning experience. I have worked with students from all ages and I constantly make sure to adapt my classes according to my students' needs. Therefore, likes and preferences of students will consistently be taken into account during my lessons.
I have been teaching for a long time which has provided me with the experience to know what to do and how to approach the difficulties students might have when learning a language. Actually, I presented at TESOL international two workshops called: "Stop Motion Animation" and "Heads up: Fun instruction", because I consider it is important to be a creative and proactive teacher to find the way to make students learn faster in a more fun way.
I have worked in Colombia and Venezuela with several foreigners with different types of purposes, either ambassadors from Holland and Germany. Moreover, I have worked with ACCESS kids, these kids are underprivileged children who have a micro scholarship from the US embassy, which wants to create 21st century skills citizens, therefore, I can strongly say that I have taught students from different backgrounds.
