I am a sociolinguist and language educator, with over a decade of teaching experience around the world. I returned to Canada five years ago, after an extended period teaching academic and business English, as well as conducting sociolinguistic research abroad.
Over the years, I have worked with academics and business professionals as they transition to opportunities across the global marketplace. This teaching has been very rewarding. When we make the content directly relevant for the learner, it’s absolutely amazing how much the learner accomplishes. Not only does the learner learn language, but they improve job performance, study skills, global understanding, or whatever the case may be.
The world is getting smaller. I love playing a bridging role between cultures, and I love helping my students become global citizens.

In an effective English class, the student is speaking 80% of the time, and the teacher 20%.
My classes are bespoke - meaning that they are designed and developed with each individual student in mind. Early in our lessons together, I'll get to know your likes, dislikes, and pain points in learning English and I'll develop a unique course to address those things. The communication is continuous of course - as we go along and I get to know you better, I adjust and readjust to meet your needs. If you have a special project you are working on professionally or academically, we can focus on that too.
