About me - English
Hello! I'm a native English speaker from the United States, and I currently live in Cuenca, Ecuador. I love learning about and teaching languages, and I would love to help you in your language journey.
I have been teaching since 2012. My favorite part of language is pronunciation, as it is so central to successful communication. I would love to use the knowledge that I have gained from my education and experience to improve your English skills.
In my spare time, I love to build furniture, garden, hike, and experiment with new vegetarian recipes. I look forward to meeting you!
Qualifications & Experience
I completed my Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature at Pfeiffer University and, directly after, my Master's degree in Applied Linguistics at Ohio University.
In addition to these qualifications, I completed a TEFL Certification in 2013 in Cuenca, Ecuador to gain experience teaching abroad. I loved the city so much that I moved back!
During my Master's program, I also completed a Computer-Assisted Language Learning Certification as well as a Graduate Certificate in Latin American Studies.
Teaching Approach
I am a patient, encouraging, and fun teacher, my purpose is to help you reach your personal and professional goals by improving your spoken and written English skills. I will shape lessons based on your needs and interests.
For TOEFL tutoring, I will focus on your weakest areas. We will also discuss test formatting to ensure your best performance.
I value conversation-based lessons, which ensure that students gain practical knowledge of the target language. I will correct errors whenever needed, and I hope to make your lesson as relevant and interesting as possible.
