My name is Alan Mulconry and I am an English teacher from Ireland. I graduated in 2017 with an honors degree in English and New Media. I also have both TEFL and TESOL qualifications. During the last four years I have taught English in Argentina, Hungary and Ireland. I have experience preparing students for official state exams as well as more casual conversation classes. I am very patient and enjoy aiding students on their path to fluency in a relaxed and structured environment.
I have an Honors Degree in English and New Media.
I have a 150 hour TEFL certificate issued by LearnTEFL.
I also have a 144 hour TESOL certificate issued by the University of Limerick.
I taught for one year in Las Heras English Institute in Argentina. During this time I taught children of all ages, teenagers and adults. Classes ranged from absolute beginner to advanced.
I have also developed, organised and run English Immersion Camps in Argentina. The function of these camps was to teach English to children (aged between 6-15) in a fun, stress-free environment through games, music, theater and crafts.
I held weekly conversation classes in Budapest, Hungary. These classes were for college students who wished to practice their English for academic or personal use.
I have given private lessons to students preparing for English exams at home in Ireland. These lessons aimed to improve writing skills.
My teaching approach will be tailored to the needs of each individual student. Classes can concentrate on state exams, raising fluency for conversation skills, English for business purposes, and so on. Students should inform me of what their needs are and the classes will be designed in accordance.
The classes themselves will always be learner centered. Students will be doing the majority of the speaking, with guidance and structure provided by me. I believe that encouragement is essential during classes to ensure that the student does not suffer from a lack of confidence which could negatively impact their learning.
Lesson planning is a critical element in ensuring that time is properly managed, and that the student is learning at a pace that suits their needs.
