This was our fourth lesson with Seth. He is good at teaching English. He provided resources about the topics that we worked on. Some of them were created by him. I am happy to have him as my tutor.

About me - English

Hello! My name is Seth Morris Gordon. I am a talented and experienced ESL teacher from New York City who has been living and working in Latin America for over 8 years. I am currently working as an English professor at a university in Colombia.

I am highly motivated and have a genuine love of teaching and languages. I especially love the process of aiding students as they work toward mastering the English language and derive great personal satisfaction when I see a student gain confidence and skill in its use. I am ready to put my abilities, energy, and passion to work for you, and have no doubt that you will find my classes to be efficient, informative and fun.

Thank you very much, and I hope you have a great day!!

Qualifications & Experience

My qualifications include a CELTA, completed in Guayaquil, Ecuador in 2009, and over 8 years experience as an English teacher in Latin America. In my current role as an ESL teacher at a university in Colombia, I have been responsible for twenty students per class with five classes per semester, exam preparation, materials creation and some student thesis paper review. I have worked with a wide range of students at all levels and ages.

Teaching Approach

My initial CELTA training highlighted task-based learning along with a focus on the learner, including a significant concentration on input and output skills development. In my subsequent experience working with students, I have found the use of authentic materials for input and real-world tasks for output to be particularly effective. This is true with regard to relevancy as well as student motivation and engagement. It is particularly rewarding to see students’ confidence increase when they successfully navigate a real-world situation.
