I am a native English speaker from London and I am currently living in Madrid teaching English.
Last year I graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a 2.1 in Neuroscience. Perviously, I have worked amongst pharmaceutical and drug development companies so have a broad understanding and knowledge within this field.
My hobbies include travelling, blogging, swimming and reading.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching and like to make my lessons fun and engaging, ensuring that the students get the most out of my time.
I have completed my 130-hour classroom TEFL training and two week competitive teacher training at Vaughan, Madrid. I graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a 2.1 in Neuroscience in May 2017.
I have had over two years of teaching experience in numerous educational institutes based in London, Dublin, Madrid and Sri Lanka. I am currently working for Vaughan, in Madrid, teaching professionals in groups or individual classes at a variety of levels. As a Vaughan teacher fluency and pronunciation is a main focus in my lessons, whilst keeping the lessons dynamics and interesting.
During my time in Vietnam I worked at a local public school, An Phong, teaching groups of 40 children aged 4 to 8. I put tremendous energy into my lessons, which engaged the students, allowing me to get the most out of my time. Being the only native English speaker at An Phong I received no external help and had to create my own lesson plans, generating texts for reading and speaking activities.
In Dublin I was a committee member of Trinity’s VTP (Voluntary Tuition Programme) society, where I was responsible for organising and supervising the tuition of 20 children. VTP works amongst the most deprived schools in Ireland, offering extra 1-2-1 tuition to children who are falling behind at school.
Worked alongside the National Youth Institute in Sri Lanka were I experienced teaching 1-2-1 and group lessons of levels C1, B2, B3 and A2 planned lessons according to the levels and interests.
Lastly, I worked as an assistant teacher in London with children aged 4 to 8, helped out in the classroom but also offered extra tuition in reading and writing.
I give private or group lessons to all ages at all levels (A1 to C1).
My primary focus in the lessons is improving students fluency and confidence to speak, by correcting mistakes and working on pronunciation. Most reading and writing work will be left to the student to do in there own time.
I like to make my lessons dynamic and interesting, engaging with the student and making time pass quickly.
I taylor my lessons to the students desires and interests, adjusting the focus and language to each individual student.
