About me - English
I am Ilona from Budapest, Hungary, and I am a native speaker of Hungarian. At the University, I studied English and Chinese language and culture. I travelled a lot and had a gap year in China. I have been working as a language tutor since my university years. It all started when my Chinese friends first asked me to teach them Hungarian.
I am still passionate about teaching Hungarian and English as a second language.
Qualifications & Experience
2010-2015 English language and culture, BA
2012-2013 I got a scholarship to China to study Chinese
2015-2023 Freelance language tutor (teaching English and Hungarian)
2023- 2024 Enroll in TESOL Certificate Course.
Teaching Approach
My students usually need to live, work or study in Hungary. So, I prefer the communicative language teaching approach to help them improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
In my lessons, I like using techniques that are engaging and interactive.
I always create a friendly atmosphere so students are not afraid of making mistakes, and I keep my lessons conversational.
I like making lesson plans. Every lesson has an objective that my students can reach at the end of the lesson. In my lesson plans, I tailor practices to individual needs. I bring in materials relevant to their lives and the challenges they have to face in their lives.
