Hello! I have lived in the United States my entire life and I have a neutral Native English accent. I have a master's degree and spent many years as a classroom teacher. I spent a large portion of my career working with English language learners who needed to improve their reading and writing skills in order to complete college applications and write college essays. I worked as a ESL conversation coach where I mentored students from around the globe as they came to the United States with little to no english experience. I loved watching these students develop confidence and find joy in the ability to communicate in basic life situations. I truly saw these people become happier and more successful as they came to an entirely new life and culture in the United States. I taught online as an English tutor for one year and absolutely loved the experience. I love to travel, I am currently learning Spanish and I enjoy meeting people and learning about new cultures as I help my students improve their English skills.

As a classroom teacher for eight years, I enjoy creating effective lessons that are tailored to your needs and interests. I am happy to provide you with study guides, audio clips and videos that you can study in preparation for our next lesson. I am more than happy to review writings and focus on specific test preparation so that you are able to reach your specific goals. I have experience in accent reduction and pronunciation. I consider our trial lesson to be a diagnostic test and I will carefully assess this lesson to find your strengths and weaknesses. I don't just provide you an online lesson, I develop a learning plan that is tailored to your needs.

I taught children as young as three and adults as old as 70. It's never too early or too late to improve your English skills and gain confidence in communicating. I currently live in the Arizona desert, on the southern border of the United States. I enjoy reading, painting and gardening. I have two small children and I teach visual arts part-time. I not only teach English skills, I also love to teach about American culture and try to give my students a glimpse into our family's daily life. My students are always amazed at the fact that I live right in the middle of the desert and daily see rabbits, lizards, coyotes and often, snakes!

I have a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts Education and a Master's degree in Library Science. I worked as a classroom visual arts teacher for ten years, teaching age 5-18. When I became a school librarian in 2011, I worked at a school with a very high population of students learning English. Often, these students had just come to the United States with very few English skills. My role in their education was to work with students learning English to improve their reading and writing skills to prepare them for their college exams like the ACT and SAT. I met with these students weekly and developed individual lessons for each student. I diagnosed their strengths and weaknesses through a series of tests and created a curriculum that would help them improve their English quickly.

I later became a public librarian and worked with adults who were learning English. I led an English conversation group, full of adults from around the world who were working to improve their pronunciation and listening skills. I assisted these English learners with job placement and interviewing skills as well as in studying for the TOEFL exam.

In 2016, I began working as an online English tutor for VIPKID. I loved working with children as young as three years old, many who had no knowledge of the English language. These students learned so quickly! My goal for every lesson was to make it interactive and fun so they would look forward to their lesson every week. I used songs, storybooks, games and visuals to add interest to every lesson. I develop my own lessons and try to personalize them for each student.

I have my TESOL certificate and I have completed two classes for the extended TESOL program at the University of Riverside, California. I am a lifelong learner and I am currently learning Spanish in my spare time.

My number one goal is to identify what is keeping you from sounding like a native English speaker. Is it a pronunciation issue? Do we need to work on widening your vocabulary or should we study up on verb tenses? I use our trial lesson to examine what the issues are that keep you from absolute fluency.

Are you studying for the TOEFL or IELTS? I can help you with each section of the test, not just the speaking portion. I believe that repeatedly practicing for these tests in the form in which they will be presented on test day is extremely helpful. I would be happy to score your test portions and give my opinion on where we need to focus our efforts. Remember, we will be a team in improving your English skills and reaching your goals!

Are you looking to improve your child's English skills? I spent a year online working with children learning English. I know how to encourage children to speak English, help them gain confidence and help them enjoy their lessons! As a mother of two, I know that if children don't feel comfortable and aren't enjoying their lessons, they won't make progress. I incorporate storybooks, songs, games and visuals into my lessons to make them fun for children. I love working with children and enjoy watching them learn and grow. My own children love to converse with my students online and have made friends with my students from around the globe.
